Job Description
About the Role This high-impact hybrid role merges a proactive business development ("hunter") mindset with deep pre-sales engineering expertise to drive expansion across Motorola Solutions’ (MSI) entire Military and Defense portfolio. Acting as a strategic technical advisor, you will leverage deep defense domain knowledge and trusted end-user relationships to identify, shape, and generate net-new demand from the ground up.
You will whiteboard complex tactical ecosystems—seamlessly integrating LMR, Barrett HF, Mesh networks, Video offerings, and other solutions to build compelling operational defense narratives to bypass legacy defense heavyweights. Once technical demand is established and scoped, you will transition procurement execution to the Direct Sales team.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactive Demand Generation & Hunting: Actively engage military end-users in the field to identify operational friction points, architect net-new opportunities, and generate ground-up technical demand.
- Full-Portfolio Technical Architecture: Translate complex defense requirements into unified technical propositions across MSI's full product landscape
- Strategic Pre-Sale Leadership: Lead technical whiteboarding sessions, scope requirements, and direct solution design through all initial stages of the Network Integration pipeline.
- Bid & Proposal Management: Author and oversee high-quality, differentiated technical responses, architecture diagrams, and system designs for RFIs, RFPs, and competitive tenders.
- Seamless Account Handover: Work in tight alignment with internal operations, engineering teams, and Sales, executing clean handovers for final contract closure once technical consensus is reached.
- Demonstrations & Proof of Concept: Lead high-stakes field trials, technical validations, and operational demonstrations alongside defense end-users and key stakeholders.
Basic Requirements
About You
- BD & Hunter Agility: Proven track record of hunting for net-new business within the defense vertical, navigating complex procurement landscapes, and leveraging existing military end-user relationships.
- Domain & Technical Expertise: Deep familiarization with the Military and Defense sector, C4ISR systems, tactical wireless networks, field implementation, and integrated solution delivery.
- Portfolio Breadth: High technical credibility across tactical communications, RF/mesh environments, video intelligence, and counter-drone technologies.
- Tender Shaping: Proactively influence and guide technical specifications with defense science and procurement agencies to favor MSI’s integrated tactical architecture before official RFPs are released.
- Security Clearance & Regulatory Compliance: Ability to obtain or hold relevant national security clearances. Working knowledge of defense procurement frameworks or Foreign Military Sales (FMS) is highly advantageous.
- Regional Language (Optional): Professional fluency in English is required; conversational ability in regional languages (e.g., Bahasa Indonesia, Tagalog) to build trust with local end-users is a strong plus.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent practical experience) in Engineering, Wireless Networks, Computer Science, or Project Management; Master’s degree preferred.
- Influence & Communication: Exceptional capacity to articulate high-level operational narratives to tactical operators and executive decision-makers alike.
- Drive & Execution: Proven ability to thrive in high-pressure environments, manage rigid bid deadlines, and collaborate across cross-functional internal/external development teams.
