The Opportunity:

In this Graphic Designer role you will be responsible for designing, developing, and creating innovative concepts and ideas to enhance all visual aspects of the clients’ brand across all external and internal communications to include literature, print, web applications, presentations, and similar graphics applications. Duties may include planning, designing, and preparation of artwork as well as strategy and conceptualization of new designs. You will translate complex technical data, policy documents, and strategic initiatives into clear, engaging, and highly accessible visual products. The ideal candidate has a strong portfolio in data visualization and publication design, with a deep understanding of federal design standards and accessibility mandates.

This position is located onsite in Fort Meade, MD and requires a TS/SCI POLY.

Responsibilities:

  • Section 508 Compliance: Ensure 100% compliance of all digital deliverables (PDFs, presentations, web graphics) with Section 508 and ADA accessibility guidelines.
  • Information & Data Architecture: Design complex infographics, technical diagrams, charts, and maps that make dense government data easily understandable for diverse audiences.
  • Publication & Report Layout: Lead the design, typesetting, and formatting of high-profile agency deliverables, including reports and strategic briefings.
  • Brand Stewardship: Maintain, enforce, and apply strict customer branding guidelines, including correct usage of official seals, logos, typography, and color palettes.
  • Multimedia Content Creation: Develop high-impact graphics for executive-level presentations (e.g., PowerPoint).
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner directly with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), writers, and Public Affairs Officers, when needed, to iterate on concepts and finalize external facing materials.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Visual Communications, or a related field, plus 3+ years of professional design experience (government contracting experience preferred).
  • A minimum of 7 years of related experience.
  • Technical Software Skills: Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro) and Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word).
  • Accessibility Tools: Proven experience using Adobe Acrobat Pro for Section 508 remediation (tagging, reading order, alt text verification).
  • Asset Management: Strong understanding of copyright laws, public domain sourcing, and secure digital asset management.
  • Active TS/SCI POLY

Desired:

  • Experience with HTML/CSS or UI/UX design for government web portals.
  • Prior experience working within the DoD/DoW design ecosystem.

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$84,900 - $178,400
