About the role
At Z, we’re reimagining what great retail looks like. As we continue to evolve our network, grow customer value and deliver exceptional experiences across Aotearoa New Zealand, we’re looking for a Kaitaki Hokohoko - Aratuku, Kounga Retail Delivery & Excellence Manager to help shape, standardise and continuously improve our retail network.
This is a role that takes our retail strategy and connects it to operational execution, ensuring our site formats, store standards, capital investment programmes and operating models deliver for our customers, our retailers and for Z.

You will have the opportunity to
- Lead the Retail Delivery & Excellence roadmap, identifying opportunities to improve customer experience, retailer performance, operational effectiveness, and network execution
- Own the governance and continuous improvement of retail operating standards, ensuring consistency, compliance, and excellence across the network
- Drive operational excellence initiatives that simplify frontline execution, improve productivity, reduce operational risk, and enhance retailer capability
- Establish and maintain delivery, assurance, and performance frameworks that provide clear visibility of execution quality, compliance, and business outcomes
- Lead significant retail and network change programmes, ensuring solutions are operationally ready, commercially sound, strategically aligned, and deliver measurable value
- Provide leadership for retailer performance and operational readiness, ensuring retailers and site teams are equipped to successfully execute strategic priorities and new initiatives
- Embed safety, risk management, change leadership, and continuous improvement practices into all retail delivery activities and network initiatives
- Develop and oversee delivery plans, governance processes, and implementation frameworks to ensure successful execution of business priorities across the retail network
- Partner with Customer & Retail, Operations, Assets, Supply Chain, Marketing, Pricing, Safety and other key stakeholders to deliver integrated, practical, and scalable solutions
- Lead the identification and resolution of systemic network execution challenges, using data, insights, and frontline feedback to continuously improve retail performance and customer outcomes
What you’ll bring to Z
- Significant experience leading large-scale retail, customer, operational, network or format development initiatives
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to balance customer, operational and financial outcomes
- Experience developing standards, governance frameworks, operating models or network strategies
- A track record of influencing senior stakeholders and leading cross-functional programmes
- Strong problem-solving, continuous improvement and change leadership capability
- The ability to translate strategy into scalable, practical execution with bold ambition
- A collaborative leadership style that brings people together around a shared vision and drives meaningful outcomes
- Demonstrated experience of managing projects end to end providing leadership, review and monitoring, ideally within a complex environment
- The ability to work collaboratively, to bring others on the journey, foster active participation and build open channels of communication
- The energy to work with a rapidly changing environment and with ambiguity

The base salary range for this role is $155,900 to $183,450 per annum, plus 15% STI based on company and individual performance, a 5% KiwiSaver employer contribution and health insurance through Southern Cross.
