About the Opportunity

Corporate Technology is looking for a Senior Java Engineer to lead a distributed engineering squad within Platform Services and take end-to-end ownership of a highly complex, business-critical product.

 

You’ll provide technical leadership, shape architecture, drive reliability and data accuracy, and act as the primary escalation point for challenging engineering and domain problems.

 

This role sits at the intersection of GDS data, NDC, EDIFACT fare structures, and multiple integrations, requiring strong technical depth, curiosity, and leadership capability.

 

What you will do:

  • Lead and mentor a distributed engineering squad, setting technical direction and maintaining high engineering standards
  • Take ownership of the Global Savings Service, including architecture, reliability, data accuracy, and ongoing evolution 
  • Solve complex technical challenges and act as the primary escalation point for critical issues
  • Integrate and navigate complex SOAP and REST APIs across GDS and third-party vendors
  • Interpret and reconcile fare and pricing data across multiple formats and sources to inform technical solutions
  • Create and maintain clear documentation, decisions, logic, and domain knowledge repositories
  • Communicate effectively with engineers, stakeholders, and leaders across multiple time zones
  • Champion AI-assisted engineering practices and coach teams on AI-augmented software development
  • Partner with engineering leadership on roadmap planning, estimation, and technical risk management
  • Drive quality, discoverability, reliability, and broader adoption of Platform Services products

 

 

What you will need:

  • Proven experience as a Java engineer and technical lead
  • Strong architectural leadership capability and experience reviewing engineering solution
  • Deep expertise working with SOAP and REST APIs in complex environments
  • Experience working within complex technical and business domains
  • Proficiency in Java and at least one additional programming language
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools, including Claude Code
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience leading remote and geographically distributed teams
  • Demonstrated ownership mindset, curiosity, and commitment to knowledge sharing
