About the role

Own the strategy, roadmap and delivery of Tyro Accounting – helping Australian businesses spend less time on admin and more time growing their business. This is an opportunity to take end-to-end ownership of an established product that's entering its next phase of growth, with major roadmap initiatives across payroll, online payments and AI-powered accounting experiences. Working closely with Engineering, Design, Growth and our accounting experts, you'll shape the future of a product used by small businesses while balancing customer needs, commercial outcomes and technical excellence.

What you'll do

  • Own the Strategy: Define and evolve the product strategy and roadmap for Tyro Accounting, aligning priorities with customer needs, commercial goals and the broader Financial Management vision.
  • Deliver Great Products: Lead initiatives from discovery through to launch, partnering closely with Engineering and Design to deliver high-quality features that create real customer value.
  • Know the Customer: Build deep customer understanding through research, feedback and product analytics, using insights to shape priorities and improve the customer experience.
  • Drive Smart Decisions: Define product requirements, user stories and success metrics, balancing customer impact, business value and technical feasibility to make informed trade-offs.
  • Collaborate Across Tyro: Work closely with Growth, Customer Success, Risk, Compliance and other stakeholders to deliver successful launches and keep teams aligned around shared outcomes.
  • Continuously Improve: Champion data-driven product development, optimise existing experiences and help drive key roadmap initiatives, including AI-powered capabilities and new accounting features.

What you'll bring

  • Product Ownership: Proven experience owning a product or product area, with responsibility for strategy, roadmap prioritisation and delivering measurable business outcomes.
  • Customer Focus: Confidence leading customer discovery, validating ideas and translating customer needs into products that solve real problems.
  • Delivery Mindset: Strong experience working alongside engineers and designers to deliver products in agile environments, from concept through to release.
  • Commercial & Analytical Thinking: A data-informed approach to decision-making, with the ability to balance customer outcomes, commercial priorities and technical constraints.
  • Influence & Collaboration: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across cross-functional teams and influence decisions.
  • Relevant Experience: Experience in fintech, SaaS, banking or accounting software is highly regarded. Familiarity with products like Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks—and an interest in AI-enabled products—is a bonus, but not essential.

We’ve worked hard to create an environment that’s big on diversity, inclusion, and flexibility, and one that suits the changing needs of team members across Australia. Here are just some of the things Tyros tell us they love about working here.
