This role sits within Global Markets IT (GMIT), specifically the Equities IT function supporting the Prime business. The team builds and runs platforms underpinning Nomura's global Prime Brokerage offering, spanning both Cash Prime Brokerage (CPB) and Synthetic Prime Brokerage (SPB). Nomura is making significant strategic investment in its Prime Brokerage franchise, with multi-million dollar technology investment driving the expansion of CPB and SPB capabilities globally. Joining this team means contributing directly to that growth agenda, working on systems that are central to the firm's Prime strategy.

Role Description:

Responsibilities include:

• Design, build and maintain platform components in Java, contributing hands-on code across the full development lifecycle.

• Apply automated testing practices embedded directly into the CI/CD pipeline, not treated as a separate downstream activity.

• Collaborate closely with business analysts, business stakeholders and production support to deliver robust, well-tested solutions.

• Participate in production support and incident calls, taking ownership of issues through to resolution.

• Work with database, messaging/queueing, cloud and observability technologies across the platform estate.

• Identify and escalate technical and delivery risks proactively, ensuring visibility across the wider engineering team.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives, refining engineering practices, tooling and delivery approaches over time.

• Partner with global engineering teams across regions to deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes.

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:

• Strong hands-on software development experience in Java within an agile, fast-paced delivery environment, contributing individually and within a team.

• Strong understanding of automated testing practices, including test-driven development and pipeline-integrated test automation.

• Practical exposure to database technologies and messaging/queueing technologies, with the ability to pick up new tools quickly.

• Working knowledge of cloud platforms and observability or monitoring tooling.

• Comfortable engaging in production support activities and contributing to incident resolution when required.
