Job Description
- Full time, fixed term (12 month) position at HEW Level 8.
- Kingswood Campus Penrith with flexible working arrangements.
- Salary: $120,754 – $134,051 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading.
Design and optimise secure data pipelines that provide trusted university data for analytics, reporting and operational use.
The Opportunity
You will design, develop and maintain the data pipelines, integration processes and transformation logic that connect data from across the University. Your work will provide timely, accurate and secure access to trusted data for analytics, reporting and operational use.
Build and optimise ETL and ELT processes using technologies including Azure Data Factory, Alteryx, Snowflake, Azure, SQL and Python. You will transform datasets into the medallion architecture framework, automate ingestion and transformation workflows, and embed data quality checks and reliability measures within pipelines.
Working with the Enterprise Data Architect and cross-functional stakeholders, you will ensure technical designs align with enterprise architecture, platform and governance standards. You will provide expert advice on scalable integration approaches, contribute to reusable engineering frameworks and influence strategic data initiatives across the University.
What Success Looks Like:
- Deliver scalable, version-controlled and documented data pipelines.
- Automate ingestion and transformation workflows to improve reliability.
- Embed data quality checks and performance measures into data pipelines.
- Resolve pipeline issues proactively to minimise downtime and data risks.
- Provide expert advice that strengthens enterprise data architecture decisions.

About You
- A tertiary qualification, preferably postgraduate, in Data Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
- Three to five years’ experience in data engineering, ETL or ELT development, or data warehousing.
- Demonstrated experience with Azure Data Factory, Alteryx, Snowflake, Azure or comparable technologies.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python, with the ability to troubleshoot and optimise data workflows.
- Experience influencing cross-functional data initiatives and communicating technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
