The Wisconsin Center for Education Research (WCER) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison’s highly ranked public School of Education is one of the first and most productive education research centers in the world. It has assisted scholars and practitioners develop, submit, conduct and share grant-funded education research for 60 years.

Qualifications:

Currently enrolled UW-Madison student

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Required: --Naturally curious and proactive, with a go-getter attitude and the drive to take initiative without waiting to be asked --Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and tasks span very different areas --Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines --Exceptional analytical and communication skills, including the ability to pick up new tools and methods quickly --Experience with communications, outreach, or community engagement

Preferred --Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Google Drive --Programming experience (e.g., R, Python) --Qualitative coding or research methods experience

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Research & Data Analysis — Support research projects through different stages, mainly working on QE (quantitative ethnography) data analysis and modeling, with opportunities to contribute to literature reviews and data processing. Work alongside researchers across the US as a technical consultant by applying QE to their data.

Research Software & AI Development — Assist with developing and improving research webtools by implementing new features, maintaining existing functionality, and conducting quality assurance (QA) testing. Explore AI integration into research workflows to improve efficiency and productivity.

Project Collaboration & Research Support — Collaborate with researchers, developers, and fellow students on interdisciplinary projects. Contribute to technical documentation, communicate project progress, and assist with conferences, workshops, presentations, and other research-related initiatives.
