Full description

The Product Content Manager is the connective tissue between Gibson Product Development teams and the Marketing organization. This role translates technical instrument specifications — tonewood choices, hardware, electronics, construction methods — into consumer-facing language that’s accurate, compelling, experiential, and true to the Gibson brand voice. The Product Content Manager owns go-to-market support for new product introductions, provides in-room representation for Marketing and consumer perspective during product validation sessions, and partners closely with the Editor-in-Chief on storytelling, copywriting quality, and consistency. The Product Content Manager also holds oversight of how product information flows into marketing assets, ensuring specs, naming, and claims are correct at every consumer touchpoint from launch deck to product page.

Key Responsibilities

Product-to-Marketing Translation

  • Partner with Product Development, Product Management, and R&D to fully understand new instrument specifications, construction details, and technical differentiators ahead of launch.
  • Translate technical specs into clear, benefit-driven, consumer-facing language to feed copy across web, retail, PR, social, and sales enablement materials.
  • Maintain a single source of truth for product positioning, naming conventions, and specification language across all marketing outputs.
  • Flag technicalinaccuracies or inconsistencies in marketing copy before assets are finalized or published.

Go-to-Market Support

  • Support go-to-market planning for new product launches, including messaging hierarchy, positioning frameworks, and channel-specific messaging (dealer network, DTC, PR, artist relations).
  • Build and maintain launch briefs, FAQs, and talking points that equip sales, PR, and retail partners to represent new products accurately.
  • Coordinate with Creative, Digital, and PR teams to ensure product marketing deliverables land on the agreed dates in the launch timeline.
  • Contribute product marketing input to workback calendars and launch trackers for major product moments.

Product Validation — In-Room Support

  • Represent the Marketing and consumer point of view live during product validation sessions, sample reviews, and pre-production evaluations.
  • Provide real-time feedback on how a product's features, story, and pricepointare likely to land with target consumer segments.
  • Capture and route product decisions and changes that impact marketing timelines, messaging, or asset production.
  • Serve as a Marketing point of contact that Product Development can bring questions to throughout the development cycle.

Copywriting & Editorial Partnership

  • Work directly with the Editor-in-Chief to draft, review, and refine product copy for tone, accuracy, storytelling, and brand voice consistency, ensuring that we are communicating the “why” succinctly to internal stakeholders, external commercial and media partners, and consumers.
  • Support the Editorial calendar with product-specific copy for launches, campaigns, and always-on content.
  • Ensure technical claims in copy are validated against product specs and legal/compliance requirements before publication.

Asset Oversight

  • Own product-to-marketing oversight of asset production, ensuring creative assets (photography, video, web, retail collateral) reflect accurate, approved product informationregardingcopy/specs.
  • EConductfinal specification accuracy reviews on marketing assets prior to launch, in partnership with Creative Ops.

Qualifications

  • Three to six+ years of experience in product marketing, product management, or brand marketing, ideally within a product-driven consumer or musical instrument brand.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical or engineering information into clear consumer-facing narrative.
  • Strong writing and editing skills; comfortable partnering with Editorial leadership on tone, voice, and storytelling.
  • Experience supporting product launches end-to-end, from development through go-to-market.
  • Comfortable working directly with Product Development teams in addition to Creative and Editorial.
  • Highly organized, with experience managing specification accuracy across multiple concurrent asset workstreams.
  • Passion for or working knowledge of guitars, musical instruments, or the music industry strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or related field, or equivalent experience.
