As an Engineering Manager, you will oversee all engineering operations within the garage, ensuring that our buses meet TfL’s operational requirements with maximum reliability and performance. Your role will be a mix of planned maintenance and dynamic problem-solving, requiring you to make critical decisions across a broad range of areas, including:
- Technical & Engineering Solutions – Diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical and electrical issues.
- Team Leadership & Staff Development – Managing, motivating, and leading a skilled team of engineers and technicians.
- Health, Safety & Compliance – Ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations and engineering standards.
- Stock & Budget Control – Managing resources effectively to optimize performance and cost efficiency.
- Innovation & Emerging Technologies – Staying ahead of industry advancements, including emission control systems, diesel-electric hybrids, and electric vehicles.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven leadership experience in an engineering management role.
- Strong technical expertise in bus engineering and maintenance, with a keen interest in emerging vehicle technologies.
- A solid understanding of health & safety protocols, with a willingness to obtain the NEBOSH General Certificate if not already held.
- Membership with IRTE (or an equivalent professional qualification).
- A Transport Manager CPC (or ability to obtain one).
- The ability to lead, inspire, and drive performance in a fast-paced operational environment.
