Benefits
Full description
mobile.de is Germany’s largest vehicle marketplace, with more than 1.6 million listed cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, and e-bikes (annual average 2025). Both private customers and registered vehicle dealers use the platform and benefit from more than 140 million visits per month*. As a “one-stop shop,” mobile.de’s offering includes not only buying and selling, but also financing and leasing solutions. Founded in 1996, the company is a subsidiary of Adevinta, a global leader in online classified portals. Based in Berlin-Charlottenburg, we offer a dynamic environment where growth, learning, and collaboration are at the heart of everything we do. If you are driven by an eagerness to disrupt, have a passion for collaboration, and are excited about shaping the future of mobility, we would love to hear from you.
Buying a car is one of the biggest financial decisions our users make. Every point of friction or doubt costs us conversion. Investing in Trust and Safety protects the funnel and builds the confidence that drives repeat usage. This is exactly how we stay the safest place in Germany to buy and sell a vehicle. With ongoing changes in threat landscape and AI ascendancy we are now rebuilding Trust & Safety natively, close to a blank slate. This role helps to shape and build it that turns our function into a silent guardian. While direct exposure to Trust & Safety is advantageous, it is not a requirement.
You will work side by side with the Product Lead for Trust and Safety. Together you shape the strategy for your domain. The Product Lead holds the broader long-term vision. You contribute to it directly, then own the execution that brings it to life through discovery, prioritization, and delivery. This role is for someone who thinks strategically and ships consistently.
- Five or more years in product management, with depth that matches a senior, technical role. You do not need to read pull requests, but you have a point of view on technical topics, implementation and solutioning, you are happy to go deep in those conversations, and you are curious to keep learning.
- You have worked with engineering, data science, data engineering, analysts and engineering managers inside a cluster, and you understand what it takes to drive success: how to manage bandwidth, plan the quarter, and measure against it consistently.
- You can take a larger initiative and move it into epics, and you use metrics to understand and steer the team day to day, not just to report after the fact.
- Strong judgment. You understand the wider team's direction and the business implications, and you can rationalize clearly when and what to prioritize.
- You understand platform product management, where you do not own a product end to end but you shape customer service, growth and safety across many, and you treat trust as central to driving success.
- You are from or willing to relocate to Berlin and can work in a hybrid setup from our Berlin office.
- German is a plus, and an advantage for working
Who would be the best fit• Passionate about Trust & Safety as a function, motivated by the "good fight" and the impact on people making one of the biggest purchases of their lives.
- Curious to learn the user journey and to empathize with people in their hardest moments.
- Comfortable in an environment where influencing without authority is the currency, and patient enough to know it takes time.
- Driven by continuous learning to stay ahead of fraudsters: new attack surfaces and new vectors in an AI-driven world likes to prototype quickly and share ideas early.
- Likes to challenge ideas and assumptions, but objective enough to change their view when the data changes.
- Comfortable building under real regulatory constraints like the DSA and the EU AI Act, treating them as design inputs rather than blockers.
Who would not be a good fit• Need a settled, well-defined team rather than one early in rebuilding itself to serve the boldest vision.
- Are not hands-on with AI experimentation, or lack a product-builder's appetite for bold ideas.
- Would rather work solo than bring people together and build their confidence in execution.
- Prefer fixed answers to developing your own product taste, intuition and hypotheses.
- Dislike working from the office to brainstorm and build cross-functional relationships.
- In your first months, help stand up a Trust & Safety metrics baseline we can trust, and turn the current backlog from daily firefighting into prioritized, shipped work. That is what good looks like early.
- Take high-level Trust & Safety initiatives and break them into clear, shippable epics and stories with crisp acceptance criteria, making build-versus-buy and MVP-versus-ideal-state tradeoffs explicit.
- Drive excellence within a distributed engineering cluster by defining quarterly targets, balancing team bandwidth, and navigating delivery hurdles to ensure we ship reliable impact.
- Use metrics religiously to steer the team week to week and day to day, and to show whether what we ship is actually making a difference , measuring consistently against outcomes to persist or pivot.
- Surface the second-order and downstream impacts and improve the whole system, not just the part in front of you.
- Partner with data science, detection and customer service to specify detections, interventions, human-in-the-loop checkpoints, and the measures that tell us they are working.
- Collaborate with machine learning, detection, and platform squads to architect preemptive safeguards to define automated signals, risk modeling, human-in-the-loop flows, and AI-led friction points that actually work.
- Hold the product standards for the team and raise the bar over time, pulling engineering managers and peers into the decisions that need them.
