Aurizon is seeking a commercially minded Business Analyst to join our Market Intelligence team on a 9-month fixed-term contract, providing cover during an internal secondment. 

This is an exciting opportunity for an analytical professional who enjoys turning complex data into meaningful insights that support strategic decision-making across the business. 

About the Team: 

The Market Intelligence team is responsible for understanding Aurizon's operating environment and developing analysis and insights to support business objectives. Aligned with Aurizon's exposure, the team's research primarily relates to commodity markets. Insights are delivered through regular reporting, briefings and presentations. 

About the Role: 

Reporting to the Manager Market Intelligence, you will work closely with stakeholders to research, analyse and model financial, operational and commercial information, helping drive informed decisions and performance outcomes across the business. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Research, developing and maintain financial, operational and commercial models 
  • Analysing data to support business performance reporting, projects and business cases 
  • Preparing reports and presentations that provide insights, recommendations and supporting commentary 
  • Partnering with stakeholders across the business to gather, interpret and model information 
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and enhanced reporting processes 

 

 

 

 

To succeed in this role, you will bring: 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics or a related discipline, or equivalent experience 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Experience interpreting complex data and converting it into actionable insights 
  • High proficiency in Excel and reporting skills 
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication capabilities 
  • A continuous improvement mindset and a proactive approach to delivering outcomes
