CFD Research is seeking a Program Financial Analyst to support the financial management and execution of large, complex defense programs. This position will work closely with Program Managers, technical leads, contracts, and finance personnel to provide accurate and timely analysis of program financial performance. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and Excel skills, an understanding of government contracting and program finance, and the ability to translate financial data into actionable information for program leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform financial analysis and reporting for large defense programs, including analysis of actual costs, budgets, forecasts, and program performance.
- Develop and maintain program financial forecasts, including Estimate to Complete (ETC) and Estimate at Completion (EAC).
- Monitor program burn rates, FTE utilization, funding, and expenditures against plan.
- Analyze budget-to-actual and forecast-to-actual variances, identify cost ends, and communicate potential impacts to program leadership.
- Develop and maintain financial trackers, dashboards, and other reporting tools used to monitor program performance.
- Prepare financial data, charts, and analysis for Program Management Reviews (PMRs) and other internal or customer-facing reviews.
- Work with Program Managers and technical leads to develop and update labor and cost forecasts across multiple tasks
- Analyze staffing trends to ensure actual execution aligns with program plans.
- Support analysis of revenue, cost, profit/margin, and program financial performance.
- Perform baseline development, forecasting exercises, funding modifications, and other program financial planning activities.
Required Qualifications
- Familiarity with government contract types, including FFP, Cost Plus, T&M, and OTA agreements.
- Experience with program financial management, EAC/ETC forecasting, earned value concepts, or project controls.
- Strong financial and quantitative analysis skills.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to develop and maintain detailed financial forecasts and reporting models.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies or trends within financial data.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced program environment.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with financial/ERP systems such as Unanet or similar government contracting systems.
- Experience with Power BI or other data visualization/reporting tools.
Location: This role is based in the Huntsville, AL area, and is 100% onsite.
