ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Leroy Springs & Company is seeking an experienced freelance Graphic Designer to provide creative design services supporting the organization and its family of brands. This independent contractor develops and produces creative visual communications that support brand guidelines, marketing initiatives, programs, events, and organizational priorities for the Leroy Springs & Company family of brands. Independently manages design projects from concept through final delivery, translating project objectives and creative direction into compelling, cohesive, and production-ready materials across print and digital platforms. Creates original artwork, illustrations, graphics, layouts, and other visual assets while applying established brand standards and sound design principles to effectively communicate key messages and engage target audiences. Partners with the Marketing team and organizational stakeholders to understand project needs, present creative concepts, incorporate feedback, and deliver high-quality work within established timelines and specifications. Maintains organized project files and proactively communicates project status, questions, and potential challenges to support efficient project completion and consistent visual communications throughout the organization.
CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS
The selected individual will provide services as an independent contractor and not as an employee of Leroy Springs & Company.
The contractor will be responsible for providing their own:
- Computer and other necessary equipment
- Internet and workspace
- Design software and applicable software licenses
- Business-related expenses associated with providing services
- Applicable taxes and other obligations associated with independent contractor status
The contractor will independently manage the manner and means by which contracted services are performed while collaborating with designated LSC representatives regarding project objectives, deliverables, brand standards, and deadlines.
The selected contractor will be required to enter into an independent contractor agreement with Leroy Springs & Company prior to beginning work. The agreement will address applicable terms, including scope of services, compensation, confidentiality, intellectual property and ownership of work product, use of organizational materials, and other applicable requirements.
KEY FUNCTIONS
- Meet with the marketing team to understand project objectives, audience, scope, deliverables, timelines, and creative direction.
- Develop creative concepts and visual solutions that align with the brand identity, communications goals, and organizational standards of each project.
- Design and produce a wide range of print and digital materials, including brochures, advertisements, promotional materials, signage, social media graphics, presentations, and other marketing collateral.
- Create original artwork, illustrations, graphics, logos, icons, and other visual assets as needed to support marketing and organizational initiatives.
- Use Adobe Creative Cloud (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) to develop polished, production-ready designs.
- Select and apply appropriate typography, color, imagery, composition, and other design elements to effectively communicate key messages and create cohesive visual experiences.
- Present design concepts and recommendations to the Marketing team and designated stakeholders, clearly communicating creative rationale and options when appropriate.
- Independently manage revisions, incorporating feedback and maintaining alignment with project objectives, brand standards, and established deadlines.
- Prepare and deliver final files according to project specifications, including appropriate formats and file types for print, digital, web, social media, signage, and other applications.
- Review final designs for accuracy, consistency, accessibility, and quality prior to delivery or production.
- Maintain organized project files, source files, and final assets to support efficient collaboration, future updates, and organizational recordkeeping.
- Communicate proactively regarding project status, timelines, questions, potential challenges, and any information needed to complete assignments successfully.
- Manage multiple projects and competing deadlines while maintaining a high standard of creative quality and attention to detail.
- Write or edit brief advertising, promotional, or supporting copy when appropriate to the project and within the scope of the designer’s responsibilities.
- Stay current with design trends, tools, technologies, and best practices and apply relevant techniques to support effective and engaging communications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Strong knowledge of graphic design principles, including composition, typography, color theory, visual hierarchy, branding and visual communication.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud or comparable professional graphic design software, including graphic design, photo editing and layout applications
- Demonstrated ability to develop creative concepts and translate ideas, objectives and messaging into compelling visual communications.
- Strong understanding of print and digital production processes, file preparation, resolution, color modes, typography and other technical design specifications.
- Ability to create original artwork, illustrations, graphics and other visual assets across a variety of applications and formats.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, consistency and quality.
- Ability to independently manage multiple projects, prioritize competing deadlines and deliver high-quality work within established timelines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to understand creative direction, present concepts, receive feedback and communicate proactively throughout a project.
- Ability to work within established brand standards while exercising sound creative judgment and developing fresh, engaging visual solutions.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain well-organized project files, source files and final deliverables.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, stakeholders and external partners while maintaining appropriate independence in the execution of assigned projects.
- Ability to adapt designs for a variety of audiences, platforms and communication objectives.
- Familiarity with accessibility and inclusive design principles for digital and print communications.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Fine Arts or a related field with 2-3 years of professional graphic design experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- Demonstrated portfolio showcasing a range of professional graphic design work across print and digital applications.
- Ability to independently manage project timelines, incorporate feedback and meet established deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
