We are seeking a General Manager Engineering & Technical Standards to lead a critical Operations function. Reporting to the Group Executive Operations, this role will strengthen how engineering is governed, prioritised and delivered across APA, with a clear focus on engineering integrity, process safety, technical standards, and assurance.
This is a significant enterprise leadership opportunity for a highly credible technical leader who can bring structure, discipline and influence to a complex engineering environment. The role will be accountable for establishing and embedding engineering standards, technical frameworks and assurance processes across APA’s operating asset base.
About You
You are a respected engineering leader with strong technical credibility, sound enterprise judgement and the ability to influence outcomes across a complex organisation. Combining deep engineering expertise with authentic leadership, you will have a proven track record of uplifting standards, strengthening assurance and leading meaningful change while building engaged, high-performing teams.
Your experience will ideally include:
- Deep engineering leadership experience within oil and gas, power, energy infrastructure or other asset intensive industries, with extensive knowledge of engineering standards, governance, asset reliability and regulatory compliance.
- Proven success leading large, diverse engineering teams, including leaders of leaders, while developing capability, succession and high performance cultures.
- Demonstrated experience establishing, Technical Authority Frameworks and embedding effective assurance, risk management and engineering governance practices.
- Strong process safety expertise, including Major Hazard Facility (MHF) compliance, safety case reviews and engineering integrity management.
- Experience transforming engineering functions through improved processes, operating models and ways of working, while balancing technical rigour with commercial, operational and strategic priorities.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing capability, with experience working across regulators, industry bodies, executive leadership teams and Boards.
- Bachelor of Engineering qualification as a minimum; MBA or postgraduate qualifications will be highly regarded.
