Accountabilities: The Software Engineer, Backend will be responsible for developing and maintaining backend services that power critical application capabilities. This role requires strong ownership of server-side engineering, attention to performance and security, and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and product teams.

Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java.

Build clean, efficient, and maintainable server-side code supporting core application features.

Implement and improve business logic while ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.

Work with relational databases to design schemas, write queries, and optimize performance.

Collaborate with engineers and product stakeholders to define, design, and deliver new features.

Participate in code reviews and contribute to backend engineering standards and best practices.

Troubleshoot and resolve backend issues involving performance, reliability, and correctness.

Apply secure coding practices to protect sensitive data and application services.

Contribute to Agile development processes and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings strong backend engineering expertise, experience building production-quality applications, and the ability to solve complex technical problems in a fast-paced environment. A strong foundation in Java development, databases, APIs, and software architecture is essential.

5+ years of professional backend software development experience.

Strong experience with server-side Java development.

Solid understanding of backend application architecture and API design.

Experience working with MySQL or similar relational database technologies.

Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to changing priorities.

Experience with Kotlin is highly valued.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
