Technical Writer (Cybersecurity)

What is in it for you:

  • Salaried: $35-40 per hour.
  • Incorporated Business Rate: $42-47 per hour.
  • 11-month contract with the potential for permanent employment.
  • Full-time position: 37.50 hours per week.
  • Day schedule, 37.50 hours per week.
  • Hybrid role with 1-2 on-site days per week in Toronto.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategy, analytical, coordination, and communications support.
  • Manage and prepare key reports and presentation materials for senior leadership forums and engagements.
  • Research and monitor external trends, including geopolitical shifts, regulatory developments, and the evolving threat landscape, and translate insights into meaningful direction for the organization's security strategy.
  • Support the development and expansion of cybersecurity narratives and updates through executive-level communications, reporting, and presentation materials.
  • Coordinate and prepare materials for key security forums, including Security Council, Business Unit Risk Committees, CISO Forums, town halls, and other relevant forums.
  • Gather and compile reports and presentation materials for recurring meetings, forums, ad hoc business narratives, and client or external speaking engagements.
  • Research security trends and emerging technologies and risks and translate findings into business insights.
  • Assist in the development of the global security strategy with a three-year view of emerging technology while aligning with security programs and initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of micro-strategies and business cases for future strategic investments and return on investment initiatives.

What you will need to succeed:

  • University degree or college diploma in Business Administration, Communications, Information Technology, a related discipline, or equivalent co-op work experience.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in technology and/or business writing.
  • Excellent Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills, including an understanding of the presentation development process from storyboard to finished product and speaker notes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical content into language suitable for senior executive audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify errors and inaccuracies in reporting.
  • Practical understanding of storytelling and the ability to create summaries and narratives related to accomplishments, business rationale, and projects, including the use of visuals and graphics to communicate key information.
  • Strong research skills with the ability to fact-check and verify sources.
  • Ability to independently drive initiatives with minimal oversight while managing competing priorities and delivering results in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a global team environment alongside delivery teams, program teams, technical managers, and business stakeholders.
  • Experience with executive or senior management communications, including workshops, executive reporting, or communications to a broad external audience, is considered an asset.
