Job Description
About the Role We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior DevOps Engineer to join our growing technology team. This role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about automation, software delivery, and operational excellence. The successful candidate will work closely with developers, testers, platform engineers, and business stakeholders to support the delivery of high-quality software through automated deployment pipelines, release processes, and DevOps best practices. As a Junior DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in improving deployment efficiency, reducing manual effort through automation, and ensuring reliable software releases across multiple environments.
Key Responsibilities CI/CD & Automation
- Build, maintain, and support CI/CD pipelines for software delivery.
- Automate build, testing, deployment, and release processes.
- Monitor and optimize pipeline performance to improve delivery speed and reliability.
- Support the implementation of DevOps best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
Release Management
- Coordinate and support application deployments across development, testing, staging, and production environments.
- Participate in planned release activities and deployment validations.
- Assist with release scheduling, implementation, and post-release verification.
- Support rollback procedures and deployment recovery activities when
required. Operational Support
- Monitor application deployments and investigate deployment-related
incidents.
- Assist in troubleshooting environment and deployment issues.
- Work closely with development and support teams to resolve production challenges.
- Contribute to root cause analysis and preventative improvements.
Scripting & Process Improvement
- Develop and maintain automation scripts to reduce manual operational effort.
- Identify opportunities to streamline software delivery processes.
- Maintain technical documentation, deployment procedures, and operational runbooks.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering, QA, Platform, Infrastructure, and Support teams.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, planning sessions, and technical discussions.
- Support knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the team.
Minimum Requirements Qualifications •Degree, National Diploma, or equivalent qualification in: o Computer Science o Information Technology o Software Engineering o Information System, or a related field. Experience
- 1 to 3 years' experience in a technical role within software development, DevOps, systems administration, release management, or application support.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, deployment tools, or automation practices.
- Understanding of Agile software delivery methodologies will be advantageous.
Technical Skills Candidates should have exposure to some of the following technologies and concepts:
- CI/CD platforms (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins or similar)
- Source control systems such as Git
- Scripting using PowerShell, Bash, Shell, or Python
- Application deployment and release management processes
- Cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
- Container technologies such as Docker
- Monitoring and logging tools
- Software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices
- Infrastructure as Code concepts and automation principles
