Full description
This position will focus on data visualization in Power BI, data analysis, project management, process improvement, and SharePoint.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and providing reporting and database support to employees to assist in their learning of standards, procedures, designs, and associated issues.
- Conducting in-depth strategic research, analyzing data, interpreting results, and providing solutions
- Supporting communication across business units regarding project needs.
- Supporting Power BI by designing, testing, and debugging Power BI dashboards and reports from functional specifications. These individuals will work from program specifications or prototypes.

An employee hired at the Adv Business Analyst level will be expected to perform the above responsibilities in an independent manner. Further, the Adv Business Analyst level employee may be assigned additional responsibilities related to those above.
FirstEnergy takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. In addition, your actual base salary will depend on various factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience.
The estimated pay range for this role is $79,475 to $112,200. The pay range for certain locations, including the state of New Jersey, include a 20% differential to account for an increased cost of living, making the pay range $95,370 to $134,460.
Qualifications include:
- Experience with data source and report deployment on the Power BI cloud service, creating intuitive reports to monitor opportunities and deficiencies, and Advanced level calculation and data transformation.
- Evaluation and mapping of a variety of data sources and gathering methods for synthesis.
- Experience in Structured Query Language (SQL), Data Analysis Expressions (DAX), Power Query M, and Power Fx, Power Automate or other workflow automation for translating business processes into automated solutions.
- Microsoft Power BI experience in the development, maintenance, and testing of Microsoft Power BI reporting and dashboard solutions.
- Relevant experience includes identifying and acting on process improvements, analyzing, and projecting required work, monitoring requirements to completion, data reporting, analysis, costing and recommendations, and an in-depth understanding of the relevant subject matter.
- Two or four-year degree in Management, Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, or related field; with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is required. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience will be considered.
- An advanced degree or professional certification is preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Word.

Qualifications at the Adv Business Analyst level include all the above, plus:
- Four-year degree in Business, IT, Engineering, or related discipline is preferred, along with a minimum 7-year relevant work experience is required. In lieu of a degree, 10 years relevant experience will be required.
- Relevant experience includes experience in identifying and acting on process improvements, analyzing, and projecting work that must be performed, monitoring requirements to completion, data reporting, analysis, costing and recommendations, and an in-depth understanding of the subject matter.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Data source and report deployment on the Power BI cloud service.
- Creating intuitive reports to monitor opportunities and deficiencies.
- Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL), Data Analysis Expressions (DAX), Power Query M, and Power Fx (***Potential may exist for R and Python scripting***).
- Experience with Power Automate or other workflow automation for translating business processes into automated solutions.
- Advanced level calculation and data transformation.
- Software configuration.
- Evaluation and mapping of a variety of data sources and gathering methods for synthesis.
- Process mapping for company initiatives.
- Validating data quality and advising of improvements.
- Review of security / permission requirements.
- Possible certification in data analysis à Amazon, IBM, Google, Microsoft.
- Visio for project mapping.
- The ability to recognize business trends and translate into recommendations and/or actionable results for First Energy aimed at improving quality decision-making.
- Expected to write work instructions for TSED.
