Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic Senior Manager Software Development Engineering to lead a high‑performing engineering team building scalable, cloud-native, and data-driven software solutions. This leader will combine deep technical expertise with strong people management skills to drive innovation and deliver high‑impact platforms using python, GKE, BigQuery/MongoDB, and modern distributed system architectures.
Roles and Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of large-scale, distributed systems using Java and microservices architecture.
- Drive cloud-native development using Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and containerized application patterns.
- Architect and oversee data-intensive platforms leveraging Precisely BigQuery, MongoDB, streaming technologies, and real-time processing frameworks.
- Ensure high standards of code quality, performance, reliability, security, and observability.
- Champion the adoption of generative AI components into modern software solutions.
People & Team Leadership
- Recruit, mentor, and retain a high-performing team of software engineers.
- Foster a strong engineering culture emphasizing collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Provide clear direction, coaching, career development, and performance management.
- Guide Agile ceremonies and ensure strong execution against goals and roadmaps.
Cross-Functional Impact
- Collaborate closely with product, architecture, data, and business stakeholders to deliver strategic business outcomes.
- Translate business needs into scalable technical strategies and execution plans.
- Leverage domain expertise to build solutions aligned with healthcare and health insurance industry needs.
- Experience building platforms in highly regulated industries.
- Passion for leading teams, driving innovation, and delivering transformative technology solutions.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of hands-on software development experience, including designing, building, and operating high-volume distributed systems using Java, microservices, CI/CD, and cloud-native architectures.
- 3+ years leading, mentoring, and developing Agile engineering teams, including 2+ years of direct people management and building high-performing engineering organizations.
- 2+ years developing and operating containerized applications in public cloud environments (GCP preferred), with expertise in GKE, BigQuery, MongoDB, and scalable platform engineering.
- Streaming, Integration & AI Solutions: Experience designing and operating real-time streaming, messaging, caching, event-driven architectures, Mainframe CDC integrations (Precisely CDC), and incorporating Generative AI into enterprise software solutions.
- 4+ years of healthcare or health insurance industry experience with a strong understanding of the healthcare value chain, business processes, and large-scale enterprise transformation
Preferred Qualifications
- Software Engineering Master Certification (SEMC) preferred.
- Software Development Professional (CSDP) preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership presence, and ability to influence across engineering and business teams.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or equivalent work experience (High School Diploma/GED + 4 years relevant experience).
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$130,295.00 - $260,590.00 This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
