OVERVIEW
General Mills, Digital and Technology India, is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to join our dynamic and innovative Data Science team. As a Lead Data Scientist, you will play a crucial role in shaping our AI and machine learning strategies, managing model development projects, AI technical explorations and mentoring our talented team of data scientists. The ideal candidate will have expertise in AI platforms, ML modelling techniques, development life cycle, GCP Vertex AI, and a proven track record of successful AI solution delivery.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Define and implement AI/ML strategy aligned to business objectives, staying current with emerging trends, platforms, frameworks, and libraries.
- Evaluate and recommend new AI tools and technologies to strengthen machine learning capabilities.
- Challenge and improve data science approaches constructively to drive better solution design and outcomes.
- Partner with business stakeholders to deliver value-added insights and intelligent solutions through ML and AI.
- Lead AI solution delivery end to end, translating business needs into scalable, optimized implementations.
- Collaborate with ML engineers and systems engineers to deploy models effectively and support post-production monitoring and performance management.
- Own and contribute to the full AI/ML development lifecycle, from ideation and exploration to production deployment.
- Bring strong hands-on expertise in Google Cloud Vertex AI, with solid MLOps practices to ensure high-quality, scalable deliverables.
- Mentor data scientists, foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, and help educate stakeholders and data science leaders to improve AI practices, maintainability, and accelerated analytics development.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 12+ years of industry experience, including 8+ years delivering data science solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
- Proven experience leading AI solution implementations and providing technical mentorship.
- Strong expertise in supervised ML algorithms, optimization, performance tuning, and AI solution architecture.
- Hands-on proficiency in GCP and key tools including Vertex AI, BigQuery, Composer, Cloud Storage, SQL, Python, Spark, TensorFlow, with working knowledge of MLOps, containerization, data lineage, visualization, GCP cloud architecture, AtScale, Alation, and deep learning.
- Strong stakeholder management, storytelling, and Agile delivery experience with sprints, estimation, and daily stand-ups.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience with CPG/ Retail industry.
- Publications or contributions to the data science and AI community.
- Certifications in AI, machine learning, or related fields.
