Position Summary: The Network Engineer II is responsible for performing routine network administration and tasks related to network infrastructure. This includes monitoring network performance, performing troubleshooting, and maintaining accurate records of configurations and procedures. They follow established processes and have developed familiarity with compliance requirements. The Network Engineer II is a mid-level hands-on position requiring a foundational understanding of network infrastructure, typically gained through a relevant degree or equivalent experience. They should possess solid technical skills in network administration and a strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as CUI, CMMC, and ITAR. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to following established procedures are essential. The Network Engineer II will work in a team environment collaborating with the IT infrastructure team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support network infrastructure implementation, setup, monitoring, and routine maintenance with some guidance supervision.
  • Support the collection of technical requirements by documenting user needs and participating in team discussions.
  • Perform initial troubleshooting steps and escalate unresolved issues to Sr. Network Engineers.
  • Maintain records of system changes and follow established documentation practices.
  • Identify minor process improvements and recommend them to the team.
  • Assist with basic vendor communications and track inventory or support tickets.
  • Receive guidance from senior team members and learn from feedback; limited decision-making responsibility.
  • Participate in training sessions and seek to build foundational technical skills.
  • Follow established compliance procedures and learn about relevant standards.
  • Make thorough and thoughtful approach to problem-solving and present options.
  • Participate in 5S Workplace organizational activities and maintain the area in good working order through sustainment activities, including requests for maintenance when needed for both personal space and multi-use department spaces.
  • Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Education/Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering or a related field; or equivalent technical training. 3-6 years of previous experience in a similar role.
  • Perform network setup, monitoring, and routine maintenance. Possess foundational network administration skills and the ability to follow established procedures.
  • Ability to assess and analyze patterns regarding recurring errors and/or performance issues and recommend potential resolution options.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative and empathetic style.
  • Work with team members to implement solutions.

Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
