About Chai Vision
Chai Vision is a fast-growing eCommerce company managing a portfolio of direct-to-consumer (DTC) brands across high-impact categories—from fitness and wellness to home goods, pet care, children's products, outdoor products, kitchen essentials, and supplements. We scale rapidly on platforms like Shopify, Amazon, and TikTok Shop through a data-driven, community-first approach and a relentless focus on product-market fit.
The organization is driven by a data-informed approach to growth, disciplined operational execution, and a commitment to delivering high-quality products and customer experiences at scale. Chai Vision continues to invest in expanding its omnichannel sales strategy and retail presence worldwide, offering team members the opportunity to contribute within a fast-paced, performance-oriented organization focused on sustainable growth and long-term value creation.
The Role
Chai Vision is hiring its first dedicated Senior QA Engineer to build and operate the shared quality function across the Engineering organization, supporting Development, AI, IoT, integrations, and other engineering initiatives. This is not a manual-testing-only role — you will own the practical QA lifecycle end to end, from test planning and case design through functional, regression, integration, and API testing, to automation, release validation, and defect management.
As the first hire into this function, you will lay the foundation for a scalable QA practice that can grow into a dedicated team with a future QA Lead. You'll work closely with Development, AI, and IoT squads and with engineering leadership to give the organization a clear, reliable answer before every release: is this ready, what was tested, and what risks remain.
What You'll Do
Test Planning & Strategy
- Translate requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria into comprehensive test scenarios
- Identify functional, integration, and regression risks before development is complete
- Create test plans for new features, applications, and releases
- Define testing approaches based on the risk and complexity of each change
- Maintain organized, reusable test suites and establish QA standards across engineering
Functional & Regression Testing
- Perform structured testing across web applications, mobile applications, internal tools, APIs, and IoT/connected-device applications
- Run functional, regression, smoke, sanity, exploratory, end-to-end, negative, edge-case, and cross-platform testing
- Validate business workflows and data flows between systems
- Build and maintain regression coverage for critical paths
API & Integration Testing
- Validate REST APIs and service integrations, including request/response behavior, status codes, and error handling
- Test authentication and authorization flows and data passed between systems
- Investigate integration failures across EDI, ERP, IoT, and other business systems
- Use tools such as Postman, Insomnia, or equivalent to build automated API test coverage
QA Automation
- Identify repetitive, high-value test scenarios to automate and build/maintain automated test suites
- Automate regression and API testing, and critical application workflows
- Integrate automated tests into development and release workflows where appropriate
- Maintain and continuously improve test reliability
Mobile & IoT Testing
- Test iOS and Android applications, including device pairing, Bluetooth/BLE connectivity, and Wi-Fi provisioning
- Validate device control, data synchronization, device state, and OTA updates
- Test connectivity failure scenarios and device/application integration
- Validate physical device behavior when hardware is available
Defect Management & Release Quality
- Own the QA defect lifecycle from identification through verification, with clear, reproducible bug reports
- Classify severity and priority, work with developers to reproduce and verify fixes, and track regressions
- Review release scope, execute smoke/sanity and regression testing, and validate critical workflows before production releases
- Provide clear release readiness assessments and support post-release validation when required
QA Process & AI-Assisted Testing
- Help establish the foundation of Chai Vision's QA process: test case structure, defect reporting standards, release checklists, and quality metrics
- Keep testing workflows practical and lightweight while improving delivery quality
- Use AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent) to generate test scenarios, expand coverage, and assist with automation — always reviewing and validating AI-generated output
- Collaborate closely with Development, AI, IoT, Product, and Engineering Leadership across sprint planning, releases, and process improvements
Who You Are
- You are a senior QA professional who understands that quality is more than finding bugs after development is finished
- You know how to understand requirements and identify risks before development is complete, and can design comprehensive test scenarios and identify edge cases
- You are comfortable testing APIs, integrations, and data flows between systems
- You know how to build regression coverage and automate repetitive testing
- You can investigate complex defects and communicate risk clearly to developers and engineering leadership
- You are comfortable working across different types of software rather than being limited to one application
- You are proactive — if you see a process that is likely to create quality problems, you raise it and help improve it
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 3–5+ years of professional QA/testing experience
- Strong understanding of functional, regression, smoke, sanity, integration, end-to-end, exploratory, and negative testing
- Strong API testing experience, including tools such as Postman or equivalent
- Experience with test automation and working with web and/or mobile applications
- Strong defect reporting and debugging skills
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum teams and with Jira or comparable project management tools
- Practical experience with several automation frameworks (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Appium, Maestro, Detox, or equivalent)
- Basic ability to read or write code in one or more languages such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java, or C#
- Understanding of automated testing within CI/CD environments (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Bitrise, or Fastlane) is highly desirable
- Preferred: mobile QA (iOS/Android), IoT or connected-device testing, BLE/Wi-Fi device testing, Tuya or similar IoT platforms, e-commerce or ERP/EDI integration testing, and experience establishing QA processes from the ground up
Tools You'll Use
Postman · Playwright · Cypress · Selenium · Appium · Jira · GitHub Actions · Microsoft 365 (Teams, Excel, SharePoint) · Monday.com
