Full description

We are seeking a talented individual to join our MMB Business Development team at Mercer. This role will be based in Hong Kong. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

This role offers hands-on, on-the-job training and close coaching from experienced sales team members and leaders to help you build strong commercial capability. You will join a fast-paced, dynamic team where you will get real client exposure early and a clear development pathway from sales execution to senior client leadership and people management over time. We will count on you to:

  • Drive new business a focus on total rewards and employee benefits’ products,  supporting companies to attract, retain and protect talent.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of target accounts in Hong Kong: create a structured account list, maintain outreach cadence, and consistently generate qualified meetings.
  • Run first meetings and discovery with HR/Finance/business owners to understand workforce priorities, identify decision makers, and qualify opportunities.
  • Develop client-ready proposals and pitch materials (decks, benefit comparisons, high-level program design, case studies), partnering with senior colleagues for solution design and commercial strategy.
  • Stay abreast of market occurrences including important developments, trends, and competitors' positioning so as to assist in identifying potential business opportunities.
  • Construct and prepare marketing plans for business offerings and/or concepts directed at certain potential accounts and aspects of complex marketing plans
  • Leverage events and networking to generate leads: coordinate/host client sessions and industry events, and ensure follow-up converts contacts into meetings and pipeline.
  • Maintain sales discipline: keep CRM/opportunity trackers updated, provide pipeline forecasts, and ensure timely client follow-up and internal coordination.

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 2+ years’ experience in business development / sales / client servicing 
  • Comfortable with activity-based sales (prospecting, meeting-setting, follow-ups) and managing multiple opportunities in parallel.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercial mindset; able to convert client needs into a clear value proposition, proposal structure and next steps
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight timelines and evolving priorities
  • Good knowledge of Hong Kong HR market, insurance, employee benefits operations is an advantage; strong learning agility is equally valued.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook); as well as strong adoption of AI tools  
  • Fluency in English and Cantonese; Mandarin is a plus.
