The Role:
As a Software Test Architect, you will shape how quality is engineered across iA’s Cloud, On-Premise, Retail, and modernization products. In this senior individual contributor role, you will partner with QA leaders and engineering teams to define test architecture and automation strategy, evaluate emerging tools and technologies, and create scalable approaches that improve testability. You will also help teams build the skills, frameworks, and practices needed to develop and sustain effective test automation.
What you’ll do:
- Define and evolve test automation architecture and recommended practices across Cloud, On-Premise, Retail, and modernization products.
- Evaluate automation tools, frameworks, and platforms based on technical fit, scalability, maintainability, integration needs, and business risk.
- Lead proofs of concept and create reusable reference implementations for UI, API, integration, performance, reliability, and device-level testing.
- Architect and implement AI test agents, AI-driven testing frameworks, and advanced AI test strategies.
- Directly engineer simulation/emulator environments and establish the core R&D test framework standards.
- Transform legacy manual QA teams into automated test powerhouses through hands-on demonstration, coaching, and proven ROI rather than top-down mandates.
- Partner with QA leaders to assess automation maturity, identify coverage gaps, and develop practical improvement roadmaps while preserving each leader's ownership of team execution.
- Collaborate with Software Engineering, Product, Architecture, DevOps, and Security to incorporate testability, quality gates, and continuous testing into the development lifecycle.
- Guide integration of automated tests into Azure DevOps pipelines, test plans, work items, and reporting to improve traceability and release readiness.
- Actively write and deploy AI-driven automated test cases alongside the team.
- Provide hands-on coaching, workshops, documentation, and mentoring that help QA teams build, troubleshoot, and maintain automation independently.
- Promote reusable frameworks, libraries, test data patterns, simulators, emulators, service virtualization, and test environments where appropriate.
- Establish practices for stable, maintainable automation, including code review, debugging, flaky-test reduction, and validation of AI-assisted test assets.
- Partner with QA leadership to define meaningful measures for automation coverage, test reliability, defect leakage, and release readiness.
Who you are:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of experience in test automation engineering, software development engineering in test, quality engineering, or test architecture.
- Experience designing or substantially contributing to scalable automation frameworks across UI, API, integration, or end-to-end testing.
- Proficiency in at least one relevant programming language, such as TypeScript, JavaScript, C#, Java, or Python.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and using source control, pull requests, and code reviews.
- Ability to evaluate tools, develop proofs of concept, document recommendations, and influence technical direction without direct authority.
- Demonstrated ability to coach engineers and collaborate across QA, Software Engineering, Product, Architecture, and DevOps.
Even better if you have:
- Experience testing cloud, on-premise, hybrid, distributed, offline-capable, or device-integrated enterprise systems.
- Experience with Playwright or similar technologies, REST APIs, and Azure DevOps Pipelines, Repos, Boards, and Test Plans.
- Experience with performance, reliability, accessibility, security, visual regression, simulators, emulators, or hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Practical experience using AI coding assistants to accelerate test development while validating generated output.
- Experience in healthcare technology, pharmacy automation, retail, fulfillment, logistics, supply chain, or other regulated or mission-critical environments.
Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. Employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
Compensation:
The estimated base annual salary range for this position is $123,250.00 to $166,750.00, though a candidate’s base annual salary shall be determined on a range of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications and experience.
