Full description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager – Commercial Construction to lead large-scale commercial and multifamily construction projects throughout the Memphis area. This position is with a well-established general contractor and will oversee projects from preconstruction and planning through execution and final closeout.

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for project financials, scheduling, subcontractor management, client relationships, and coordination with field leadership. The ideal candidate has a strong general contracting background and a proven track record of successfully delivering complex commercial or multifamily projects.

Responsibilities• Manage commercial and multifamily construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout.

  • Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, cost forecasts, procurement plans, and execution strategies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams.
  • Review drawings, specifications, contracts, submittals, and other project documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Lead subcontractor procurement, contract negotiations, change order management, and vendor coordination.
  • Monitor project costs and financial performance while identifying risks and implementing solutions to protect profitability.
  • Partner closely with superintendents and field leadership to resolve construction challenges and maintain project schedules.
  • Ensure projects meet contractual requirements, quality standards, safety expectations, and applicable building codes.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, forecasts, and client communications throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead and mentor project team members while promoting accountability and collaboration.
  • Manage multiple priorities and complex projects in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • 8–10+ years of commercial or multifamily construction project management experience preferred.
  • Candidates with 5–6+ years of strong relevant experience may be considered if they have successfully managed larger, complex projects.
  • Experience working for a commercial general contractor or construction management firm is required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large commercial or multifamily projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, project scheduling, budgeting, cost control, contracts, procurement, and change order management.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and contract documents.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and client relationship skills.
  • Proficiency with construction project management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate project teams, subcontractors, consultants, and field operations.
  • Local Memphis-area candidates are strongly preferred.
  • Candidates with experience limited to single-family residential construction or small-scale projects will not be considered.
