Full description

We’re looking for an Assistant Engineering Asset Manager to join our Engineering team based at London Gateway Port in Stanford le Hope, Essex. You will play a key role in maximising the safety, reliability, availability and efficiency of our critical engineering assets for the Quay Crane Team.

Working closely with the Engineering Asset Manager, you’ll lead and develop a multi-disciplinary asset team, supporting a fast-paced, safety-critical operation where asset performance directly impacts operational productivity and customer service.

About the Role:

  • Lead and develop direct and indirect engineering/asset teams, driving performance, engagement and capability.
  • Support the management of workshops, tools, spare parts and maintenance resources.
  • Drive asset reliability and availability through effective preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Use EAMS/Maximo to manage maintenance, inventory and procurement activities.
  • Work closely with Reliability, Operations, Projects and HSE teams to identify issues and deliver sustainable solutions.
  • Ensure engineering activities meet H&S, environmental, regulatory and DP World standards.
  • Develop and maintain RAMS, risk assessments and method statements, ensuring safe delivery of maintenance activities.
  • Manage equipment suppliers, contractors and vendors to improve reliability, efficiency and service.
  • Support budget management, repair and maintenance expenditure and small equipment CAPEX.
  • Lead training, development and apprenticeship activities across the engineering team.
  • Champion Lean, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Support the safe delivery, installation and commissioning of new and modified equipment.
  • Build strong relationships with operational stakeholders and trade unions.

Your Key Skills

  • Professional qualification in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering.
  • Senior engineering professional with a strong background in asset management, maintenance and people leadership.
  • NVQ/RQF Level 3 or above in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience managing engineering equipment suppliers and contractors.
  • Strong understanding of HSE requirements within engineering maintenance.
  • Experience of project management, budgeting and maintenance delivery.
  • Practical experience using relevant Asset Management systems EAMS/Maximo, ideally across Maintenance, Inventory and Procurement modules.
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and root-cause analysis capability.
  • A proactive, organised and commercially aware approach.
