Opportunity

PeopleTec seeks a Cybersecurity Systems Administrator for on-site program support at Peterson Air Force Base.

The Cybersecurity Systems Administrator II is responsible for the administration, security, configuration, maintenance, and sustainment of enterprise information systems supporting Department of Defense (DoD) environments. This position combines hands-on systems administration with cybersecurity responsibilities to ensure enterprise systems remain secure, available, properly configured, and compliant with applicable DoD cybersecurity requirements.

The successful candidate will administer and secure enterprise servers, endpoints, user accounts, network-connected systems, applications, and supporting infrastructure across classified and unclassified environments. Responsibilities include system configuration and maintenance, cybersecurity hardening, patch management, vulnerability remediation, configuration management, identity and access management, system monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response support.

The Cybersecurity Systems Administrator II will work closely with cybersecurity engineers, network administrators, system administrators, Information System Security personnel, and government customers on Peterson SFB to maintain secure and reliable enterprise environments. The position requires practical experience supporting DoD information systems and the ability to implement cybersecurity requirements while maintaining system availability and mission effectiveness.

The candidate should be comfortable operating in mission-critical environments where cybersecurity, configuration control, system availability, and timely resolution of technical issues are essential to mission success.

Duties

  • Administer, configure, maintain, and secure enterprise information systems supporting DoD mission environments.
  • Perform day-to-day system administration of Windows and other enterprise operating systems and services.
  • Install, configure, update, and maintain enterprise applications, servers, endpoints, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Implement system-hardening requirements and maintain compliance with applicable DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  • Perform operating system, application, and security patching in accordance with established cybersecurity and configuration-management processes.
  • Review, analyze, track, and remediate system vulnerabilities and cybersecurity findings.
  • Implement and validate Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs), Information Assurance Vulnerability Bulletins (IAVBs), and other DoD-directed cybersecurity updates.
  • Support vulnerability scanning, analyze scan results, remediate identified findings, and validate corrective actions.
  • Maintain system configuration baselines and support formal configuration-management and change-control processes.
  • Administer user accounts, permissions, authentication mechanisms, and access controls in accordance with least-privilege and DoD security requirements.
  • Support Active Directory, Group Policy, enterprise identity services, and related authentication and authorization technologies.
  • Monitor system health, security status, logs, performance, capacity, and availability.
  • Investigate and resolve system, application, authentication, network connectivity, and cybersecurity issues.
  • Review system and security logs to identify anomalous activity, system failures, unauthorized changes, and potential cybersecurity incidents.
  • Support cybersecurity incident identification, investigation, containment, remediation, and recovery activities.
  • Support operation and maintenance of classified and unclassified DoD information systems.
  • Support secure movement and handling of information between authorized systems and security domains.
  • Implement and maintain security controls in support of Risk Management Framework (RMF) and system authorization requirements.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, configuration records, standard operating procedures, technical guides, and cybersecurity artifacts.
  • Support system upgrades, technology refreshes, application deployments, and integration of new hardware and software.
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity, network, systems, and security personnel to resolve technical and compliance issues.
  • Support government customers during cybersecurity inspections, assessments, audits, and authorization activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior system administrators and support personnel as required.

Qualifications

  • 8-12+ years of relevant experience in systems administration, cybersecurity, enterprise IT, network administration, or related technical disciplines.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience administering enterprise information systems.
  • Experience administering and securing Microsoft Windows Server and Windows enterprise environments.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, account administration, permissions, authentication, and access-control technologies.
  • Experience implementing cybersecurity hardening, system security configurations, operating system patches, and application updates.
  • Experience applying and maintaining DISA STIG requirements or comparable system-hardening standards.
  • Experience identifying, tracking, remediating, and validating system vulnerabilities.
  • Experience supporting enterprise vulnerability-management and patch-management processes.
  • Working knowledge of DoD cybersecurity requirements and information assurance practices.
  • Experience with system configuration management, configuration baselines, and formal change-control processes.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, enterprise networking, DNS, DHCP, network services, and common enterprise protocols.
  • Experience reviewing system logs and technical data to identify and troubleshoot system and cybersecurity issues.
  • Experience troubleshooting enterprise operating systems, applications, authentication, network connectivity, and security-related problems.
  • Experience developing and maintaining system documentation, procedures, configuration records, and cybersecurity artifacts.
  • Ability to work effectively with cybersecurity engineers, network administrators, system administrators, security personnel, and government customers.
  • Experience supporting DoD, federal government, or other mission-critical enterprise information systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for assigned programs.

Education and Clearance Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline; additional relevant technical experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • DoD 8140/8570 compliant certification appropriate for assigned system administration and cybersecurity responsibilities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance required for assigned programs.
