Job Description

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

To be successful as a Senior Software Engineer - Java Full Stack & AI Assisted Engineering, you should have experience with:

  • Design, develop, test and deploy enterprise-grade applications using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Build scalable, resilient, and secure microservices-based solutions.
  • Develop responsive and modern user interfaces using ReactJS and TypeScript.
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions and high-quality software deliverables.
  • Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to solution design decisions.
  • Ensure applications meet performance, security, reliability, and operational standards.
  • Lead complex technical investigations and production issue resolutions.
  • Design and implement cloud-native solutions on AWS.
  • Work with AWS services including ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB/RDS, CloudWatch, IAM and EventBridge.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Support CI/CD automation and release processes.
  • Drive adoption of secure coding practices and engineering standards.
  • Perform code reviews and promote clean code principles.
  • Implement automated unit, integration, and regression testing.
  • Ensure observability through logging, monitoring, and alerting frameworks.
  • Contribute to technical debt reduction and platform modernization initiatives.
  • Effectively leverage AI engineering tools such as Claude, GitLab Duo, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, and other approved enterprise AI tools.
  • Utilize AI assistants for code generation, test automation, documentation, code review support, root cause analysis, and solution design acceleration.
  • Drive responsible and secure adoption of AI-assisted development practices.
  • Evaluate emerging AI capabilities and recommend productivity improvements within engineering teams.
  • Mentor team members on AI-enabled software engineering best practices.
  • Work closely with Product Owners, Architects, Engineering Managers, Designers, and Business Analysts.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Contribute to sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimation, and technical leadership activities.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
