Lead Strategic IT Infrastructure Initiatives with Innovation and Impact!

We’re looking for a visionary IT leader to drive operational excellence, technology innovation, and service continuity across enterprise infrastructure. In this impactful role, you'll:

  • Shape and execute the IT Operations Division’s annual strategy, aligning operational goals with broader business objectives.
  • Lead capacity planning and infrastructure scaling to support evolving corporate needs.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce standards, procedures, and best practices for emerging technologies.
  • Oversee IT service continuity and disaster recovery, ensuring business resilience and data integrity.
  • Monitor and optimize infrastructure service levels, aligning with client expectations and business outcomes.
  • Lead major incident and service disruption response, including escalation, stakeholder communications, recovery, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Provide thought leadership on emerging tech trends and lead change initiatives to drive adoption.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and governance frameworks.
  • Represent IT in front of Council and stakeholders, providing expert insights and strategic guidance.
  • Stay ahead of the curve through an active network of industry peers and external partners.
  • Provide leadership and operational oversight for enterprise infrastructure, the IT Help Desk, technical support, and the IT Security team. Set service standards and oversee service management across these functions.
  • Oversee the IT Security team’s delivery of security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, identity and access administration, and established security controls to support reliable, secure, and compliant services.

What the role requires:

  • Progressive leadership and a minimum of 10 years of relevant information technology experience, including responsibility for multidisciplinary teams and IT operations.
  • Relevant degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent
  • Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning and development
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operational cybersecurity.
  • Previous experience in financial management, capital budgeting, business planning and purchasing / contract management
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered

Skills/Abilities:

  • Understanding of business critical systems and technologies used to support high-availability requirements
  • Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards
  • Strong technical knowledge of computer network infrastructure: server hardware, end-user computing, telecommunications, wireless, telephony, data storage, virtualization, data center facility planning
  • Ability to plan and direct optimum utilization of computer equipment, associated hardware, software and staff to meet the daily operations
  • Proven experience with IT Service Management frameworks such as ITIL
  • Project management experience including an understanding of the roles and responsibilities within a project in order to provide working direction to staff.
  • Knowledge of SDLC, PMBOK and COBIT best practices
  • Possess well-developed communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Possess excellent research, budget management, program management, and organizational development skills.
  • Must have excellent negotiation and problem solving skills in order to understanding and appreciating different and opposing perspectives on an issue, adapting one's approach as the requirements of a situation change
  • Previous experience leading, managing, and motivating a team in an open, innovative, responsive and professional team environment, including coaching team members toward achievement of team and individual goals, and providing and encouraging ongoing feedback on area activities and individual/team achievements
  • Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, and issue resolution skills in situations where the problem maybe be technical, managerial or interpersonal
  • Knowledge of trends in the use of current information technology and the impacts on the Region’s current operating environment
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.
