Overview

About the Role & Team

IDC is seeking a Technical Product Manager to join the IDC.com team.

The ideal candidate for this position is a builder and a problem solver. As a Technical Product Manager, you will own the systems behind what customers see once they log in to IDC.com, and you will decide what gets built next. You will use your technical judgement to turn business goals into a workable architecture and delivery plan with engineering, make trade-offs in the open, and keep a new platform and a legacy application moving at the same time.

The ideal Technical Product Manager also has strong writing and communication skills and can build relationships with both their team members and client stakeholders.

The Technical Product Manager will be responsible for the multiple systems and applications that form the IDC.com post-login experience, together with the related internal applications that support it, such as the administration of customer entitlements. You will closely work with Engineering, Architecture, Research, and Sales team members.

What You’ll Do

  • Ownership of the product strategy, roadmap, and backlog for the systems and applications behind the IDC.com post-login experience, and for the internal applications that support them, including entitlement administration.
  • Development of the strategy and end-to-end requirements for a new capability that delivers IDC research documents to paying customers in the post-login experience. This means a new subsystem, built on a new architecture, integrated with new customer-facing applications.
  • Development of the strategy and end-to-end requirements for customer alerts and notifications, rebuilt on the same modern foundation.
  • Leading the move of both capabilities off the legacy system onto a modern tech stack, and their integration into the IDC Quanta AI solution.
  • Prioritization and management of the KTLO (keep-the-lights-on) backlog for the legacy application for as long as it stays in service, balancing maintenance against new build.
  • Elicitation, organization, translation, analysis and prioritization of both business-level and functional requirements, and their translation into epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria for engineering and design.
  • Development of process flow, data flow, and integration logic across systems, together with the teams that own them.
  • Definition of success metrics for each release, and measurement of adoption and customer impact after launch.
  • Coordination of rollout, customer migration, and change management with Research, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service stakeholders.
  • Assisting with strengthening end-user relationships.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years’ work experience in technical product management or product ownership of web applications, platforms, or APIs.
  • Advanced level of English (C1).
  • Technical Depth: the ability to discuss APIs, services, data models, cloud infrastructure, and integration patterns with engineers and architects, weigh the trade-offs, and challenge a design when it needs challenging.
  • Greenfield and Migration Experience: a track record of taking a new system from concept to launch, and of replacing or retiring a legacy application without disrupting the customers who depend on it.
  • Requirements Gathering and Documentation: the ability to translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements for developers.
  • Roadmap and Backlog Management: prioritising new build against KTLO work, and explaining those trade-offs in terms stakeholders can act on.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: identifying challenges and proposing effective solutions that align with business goals.
  • Communication Skills: strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders, developers, and senior leadership effectively.
  • Business Process Modelling: creating diagrams and workflows to visualise processes, systems, and solutions.
  • Analytical Thinking: evaluating data, product usage, and trends to make informed decisions.
  • Stakeholder Management: building relationships and managing expectations across teams.
  • Agile Methodology Knowledge: understanding agile practices to work seamlessly with development teams.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Ability to provide exceptional client service, to research and resolve problems, and to demonstrate commitment to continuous learning.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with content delivery, digital publishing, or document management platforms.
  • Experience building notification or alerting services at scale (email, in-app, webhooks).
  • Experience shipping AI-powered product features.
  • Experience decommissioning a legacy application.
  • Experience with Google Analytics 4 (GA4) or comparable product analytics tools.
  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.
