Intermediate Python Engineer

We are looking for an Intermediate Python Engineer to join our team.

About the project: Over more than 20 years, the company delivers market-leading weather intelligence software that empowers our customers to confidently assess and manage the impact of weather on their markets. Our flagship product is used throughout the trading day on monitors across the majority of trading floors in North America and Europe.

They are at the forefront of applying cutting-edge machine learning technologies to forecast renewable power generation and energy demand (load). Their mission is to leverage data-driven innovation to accelerate and transform the renewable energy sector.

We are seeking a skilled Intermediate Python Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have solid commercial experience in Python backend development and be comfortable working on existing backend services, implementing new features, and enhancing and maintaining existing functionality.

Requirements:

• 3 years of professional software development experience (at least)
• Solid commercial experience with Python, with a focus on backend development
• Hands-on experience developing, maintaining, and enhancing backend services
• Good understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
• Good knowledge of SQL and experience working with relational databases
• Good understanding of Git and standard software development workflows
• Experience writing unit and integration tests
• Understanding of clean code principles and common software development practices
• Basic understanding of software architecture and design patterns
• Good problem-solving and debugging skills
• Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and collaborate effectively with the team
• Good communication and collaboration skills
• Experience with cloud environments and/or containerization (e.g., AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker) (would be a plus)
• Experience with CI/CD practices (would be a plus)
• Experience developing and working with REST APIs (would be a plus)
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
• Level of English: Upper-intermediate

Responsibilities:

• Develop and enhance backend services and applications using Python
• Implement new features based on business and technical requirements
• Maintain and improve existing backend functionality and codebases
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and backend services
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and bugs
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following established development practices
• Work with databases and external/internal service integrations
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving code quality
• Collaborate with developers, QA, product, and other stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle
• Contribute to technical discussions and help identify practical solutions to development challenges
