Job Description:
The Software Architect is responsible for designing and guiding the implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance software solutions that support AAON’s business operations and digital transformation goals. This role defines the technical architecture, standards, and best practices for software development across the organization. The Software Architect collaborates with cross-functional teams to align technology solutions with business needs and ensure long-term system sustainability. This position plays a critical role in modernizing AAON’s technology stack and enabling innovation in a manufacturing environment.The Software Architect leads the design and evolution of enterprise applications, ensuring alignment
with business objectives, IT strategy, and industry best practices. This includes evaluating
technologies, mentoring development teams, and ensuring architectural consistency across
platforms.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
· Define and maintain software architecture standards, frameworks, and design patterns.
· Lead the design of scalable, maintainable, and secure software systems across web, desktop,
and cloud platforms.
· Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and stakeholders to translate requirements
into technical solutions.
· Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and platforms to support development and
integration.
· Ensure software solutions align with cybersecurity, data governance, and compliance
requirements.
· Provide technical leadership and mentorship to software development teams.
· Review code and design documents to ensure adherence to architectural standards.
· Support DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing strategies.
· Participate in strategic planning and roadmap development for enterprise systems.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a
related field.
Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field and/or certifications such as TOGAF, Microsoft Certified:
Azure Solutions Architect, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· 8+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a software architecture
or technical leadership role.
· Strong understanding of software design principles, microservices architecture, and system
integration.
· Proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., C#, Java, Python, JavaScript) and
frameworks (.NET, Angular, React).
· Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and API
design.
· Familiarity with ERP, MES, or manufacturing systems is highly desirable.
· Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
· Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

· Ability to focus on detailed technical tasks and manage multiple priorities.
Work Environment:
The Software Architect works primarily in a professional office or hybrid environment, with occasional visits to manufacturing areas for system integration or support. The role involves collaboration with IT, engineering, and business teams, and may require occasional travel to other AAON facilities or vendor sites.
