A Brief Overview Design, test, implement and maintain hospital and/or outpatient business IT applications. Researches and corrects system and user problems. Works with various primary care clinics, specialty departments, ancillary, inpatient and billing/finance to support practice and implement changes as needed to the existing systems.

Essential Functions

  • Analyze, design, configure, test and maintain Children’s Hospital & Medical Center’s business applications to accomplish the hospital’s strategic goals and meet the needs of the end-users.
  • Research, analyze and correct system and user problems in a timely manner. Actively and accurately maintain documentation of issues, resolutions and build documentation as outlined by department policies.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers through effective and consistent communication.
  • Participate on project teams working with individual departments to define requirements for changing new & existing systems. Works with the team to define process flows & make recommendations for the most efficient utilization of applications.
  • Analyze and translate workflow requirements into efficient/effective application solutions.
  • Perform integrated testing of current and new vendor functionality to ensure reliability and integrity of the EMR.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned
  • Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.

Education Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, medical profession, or related field required; experience may be substituted for education. Required and
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years experience in Information Technology or related field Preferred and
  • Previous Epic business application experience and certification Preferred and
  • Previous systems super user and/or trainer experience Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Current technical knowledge of Information Technology, focusing on application development and support.
  • Current knowledge of applying technology focused in the area of Healthcare.
  • Skill in use of MS Office applications.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking skills for problem solving.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse and multi-cultural environment.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Must obtain job related certification within 9 months of hire and maintain the certification(s) for duration of employment in IT. Required
  • Work after hours and on weekends as needed is an expectation of the job. Required
