In this role, you will manage the mechanical and plumbing scope of large-scale construction projects from preconstruction through installation, commissioning, and final turnover. You will coordinate subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and project stakeholders to ensure HVAC, hydronic, plumbing, and associated mechanical systems are delivered safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the overall mechanical and plumbing scope, including HVAC, chilled water, hydronic systems, domestic water, sanitary, storm, and specialty plumbing systems.
  • Manage and coordinate mechanical and plumbing subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and suppliers from preconstruction through project turnover.
  • Review MEP drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, equipment selections, and shop drawings for compliance, coordination, and constructability.
  • Manage mechanical and plumbing procurement and installation schedules to ensure critical equipment and materials support project milestones.
  • Coordinate mechanical and plumbing work with electrical, structural, architectural, controls/BMS, fire protection, and other trades to identify and resolve field conflicts.
  • Track procurement, fabrication, delivery, installation, startup, and testing of critical mechanical equipment, including chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, heat exchangers, cooling towers, and associated piping.
  • Oversee quality control, inspections, pressure testing, flushing, cleaning, Testing, Adjusting and Balancing (TAB), and installation verification.
  • Identify and manage schedule, cost, design, procurement, and technical risks and develop recovery plans for critical-path activities.
  • Coordinate with the Commissioning Agent (CxA) and commissioning teams to ensure mechanical and plumbing systems are complete and ready for functional and integrated systems testing.
  • Manage punch lists, commissioning deficiencies, O&M documentation, as-built drawings, client training, system turnover, and project closeout.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.

Skills Required:

  • Strong project management experience overseeing mechanical and plumbing scopes on large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water, hydronic, plumbing, piping, and associated mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Experience managing mechanical/plumbing subcontractors, vendors, procurement, installation, startup, and turnover.
  • Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of construction scheduling, cost management, quality control, commissioning readiness, and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Experience with mechanical testing, TAB, system startup, commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Education / Licenses / Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Project management, construction, or mechanical trade certifications preferred.
  • Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable.
