Job DetailsJob Location: apg 5250 - Minneapolis, MN 55421Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $135,000.00 - $170,000.00 SalaryThe Sr Manager of Software & Electronics Engineering leads the company’s digital and electronic technology organization, including electronics hardware, embedded software, cloud software, APIs, SDKs, connectivity, and connected-product technologies. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for technology development, product delivery, and lifecycle support while driving innovation and future growth. Working closely with Hardware and Product Engineering leadership, the Sr Manager will ensure seamless integration of hardware, software, and cloud technologies across the product portfolio and execution of the long-term product roadmap. The successful candidate will build high-performing engineering teams, establish technology architecture, and drive engineering excellence from concept through commercialization and lifecycle support. The role is approximately 50% hands-on technical leadership and 50% leadership through delegation, coaching, team development, and management of external engineering and development partners. RESPONSIBILITIES Technology & Engineering Leadership Lead multidisciplinary teams responsible for electronics, embedded systems, cloud software, APIs, SDKs, connectivity, and digital platforms. Define and execute technology strategy aligned with business objectives and product roadmap priorities. Establish engineering standards, processes, and best practices that promote quality, security, scalability, and innovation. Set technical direction and make architecture decisions for connected products and digital ecosystems. Product Development & Innovation Oversee the design, development, validation, and release of electronic and software solutions for current and future products. Partner with Product Management and Engineering leaders to translate customer and market needs into effective technology solutions. Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and competitive developments to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation. Ensure effective integration of software, electronics, connectivity, and cloud technologies across the product portfolio. Cross-Functional & Operational Leadership Partner with Product Management, Hardware Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Service to deliver integrated products that meet cost, quality, schedule, and performance objectives. Support existing products through engineering enhancements, issue resolution, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement. Manage departmental budgets, resource planning, and external engineering partnerships. Organizational Leadership Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain high-performing engineering talent. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focus. Establish performance goals, development plans, and succession strategies. Build organizational capabilities through internal talent development, resource planning, and effective management of external engineering and development partners. QualificationsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • Experience managing complex product development programs from concept through commercialization • Strong understanding of electronics design, embedded systems, software development lifecycle practices, and product architecture • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across engineering disciplines and business functions • Knowledge of cybersecurity, software quality, regulatory compliance, and functional safety • Experience leading globally distributed engineering teams and external development partners • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail • Ability to organize, prepare, analyze, and interpret data to find and solve problems • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, software engineering, or a related technical discipline • 3+ years of engineering leadership experience with increasing responsibility in software, electronics, or connected-product development • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams spanning hardware, connected devices, embedded software, and cloud technologies • Experience with IoT, Android, Windows, Linux, connected devices, APIs, SDKs, TCPIP, HTTP, TLS, HTTPS, USB HID and digital ecosystems, preferred • Experience with Heroku and Voltr or similar hosting environments, preferred • Prior experience in point-of-sale (POS) systems & technology, preferred
