Role

Trideca is partnering with a large Australian health and wellbeing organisation to grow the mobile engineering capability behind its member-facing digital platform. The app is used daily by hundreds of thousands of members to manage their cover, make claims, and take control of their health, so the work is visible, high volume, and consequential.

We are looking for a Senior Android Developer who wants to build features that people actually depend on, and who cares as much about how the code is written as what it does.

The Role

You will join a cross-functional product team building and maintaining native Android features for self-service and better health outcomes. Beyond delivery, you will help shape the technical direction of the platform: influencing the mobile roadmap, advising on emerging Android capability, and working with engineering leads to establish design patterns that hold up under review.

What will you do

Build meaningful, customer-facing features in maintainable, secure, scalable, performant and well-tested code.

Provide guidance on advances in mobile technology to inform product and design decisions.

Contribute to the ongoing technology roadmap and the vision of the platform as a genuine destination for members.

Work with engineering leads to develop, implement and maintain design patterns that are regularly reviewed and support quality acceptance.

Diagnose and resolve production issues using crash and performance tooling, closing the loop on root cause rather than symptoms.

What will you bring

Demonstrated commercial experience in native Android application development, including:

Strong command of Kotlin and the Android platform generally.

Hands-on experience building complex UI with Jetpack Compose, plus networking and threading in production applications.

Solid grounding in object-oriented programming, application architecture and design patterns such as MVVM.

Proficiency with Crashlytics or equivalent tooling to investigate and resolve app issues. 

Exposure to several of the following: Google Maps, RxJava / RxAndroid, Dagger, and Jetpack libraries including ViewModel, LiveData, Navigation and Coroutines.
