This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Data Scientist based in Canada.
This role offers the opportunity to shape innovative machine learning and AI-powered products that create measurable business and customer impact. You will work at the intersection of data science, machine learning, experimentation, and software engineering. The position combines advanced quantitative problem-solving with hands-on development of production-grade AI solutions. You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to identify opportunities and turn complex problems into scalable solutions. Your work may span personalization, recommendation systems, behavioral modeling, computer vision, and generative AI. You will also help define technical strategies and best practices while operating independently in an environment where experimentation and innovation are highly valued. Accountabilities
- Lead the design, development, evaluation, and deployment of machine learning solutions that deliver measurable business and customer outcomes.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to identify opportunities, frame complex problems, and recommend data-driven solutions.
- Design, execute, and analyze experiments, including A/B tests, to assess product improvements and emerging business opportunities.
- Develop quantitative frameworks, predictive models, and optimization approaches that improve customer experiences and business performance.
- Contribute to personalization, recommendation systems, behavioral modeling, and other advanced data science initiatives.
- Drive innovation in generative AI, computer vision, image generation, and multimodal technologies, identifying new opportunities for AI-powered experiences.
- Evaluate and implement state-of-the-art machine learning techniques, open-source AI technologies, and modern tooling to improve solution quality and scalability.
- Collaborate with software engineers to productionize models and build reliable, scalable machine learning systems.
- Independently drive ambiguous projects from problem definition through implementation while contributing to technical strategy and data science best practices.
- Translate complex analytical findings and technical concepts into clear business recommendations for cross-functional stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline.
- 5+ years of professional experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, or a closely related field.
- Deep expertise in machine learning, including model development, evaluation, experimentation, and production deployment.
- Strong Python programming skills and experience developing production-grade data science solutions.
- Strong statistical modeling, hypothesis testing, and experimental design capabilities, including hands-on A/B testing experience.
- Experience working closely with software engineers to deploy and scale machine learning models and systems.
- Ability to independently take ownership of projects, from defining the problem and technical approach through implementation and delivery.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical and analytical concepts and translate findings into actionable business recommendations.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks and technologies, including relevant experience with predictive modeling, data modeling, and ML productionization.
- Familiarity with SQL for data exploration and analysis is an advantage.
- Experience with generative AI applications, large language models, AI orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph, computer vision, image generation, or multimodal AI is highly valued.
- Familiarity with recommendation systems, personalization, customer lifecycle optimization, or AI-powered customer-facing products is a plus.
- Comfort working in fast-paced environments where experimentation, iteration, autonomy, and continuous learning are essential.
