POSITION: Manager, Product Engineering
LOCATION: Superior Essex International Inc., 2900 Morris Sheppard Dr. Brownwood, TX 76801
JOB DUTIES: Provide leadership and act as a technical liaison on projects and activities involving product specifications, product development, standard BOMs/costs, industry standards, and part number management. Duties include:
- Manage the generation of standard bills of materials used to respond to customer requests for quotation and standard costing;
- Responsible for the overall operation and implementation of systems to support cable design and the standard BOMs (Cablebuilder);
- Submission of annual standard BOMs to support frozen cost standards with Finance;
- Manage the creation, review and implementation of technical (Design) specifications to comply with industry standards and specific customer product requirements;
- Manage the systems and processes for the assignment of finished goods raw material and WIP part numbers;
- Provide input and project review for product development projects;
- Manage corporate representation in Industry Codes and Standards activities, including ICEA, Telcordia and U;
- Manage systems and data acquisition processes to ensure compliance with various Buy American statutes for Superior Essex products;
- Provide review and technical response to Request for Quotes;
- Manage Product Engineers in 2nd level technical support for Sales and communicate with customers when required to discuss product requirements;
- Travel to plants, customer locations and standards meetings when required;
- Manage the objectives, priorities, and travel for all direct reports.
- Travel (domestic/international) required less than 10% of the year.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering or a related field, or significant equivalent work experience in a technical position in the wire and cable industry.
- 4 years of experience working with the communications cable industry.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or significant equivalent work experience in a technical position in the wire and cable industry.
- Experience in wire and cable manufacturing is highly preferred.
- 4 years’ experience working with the communications cable industry.
- Knowledge of standard bills of materials and costs.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Advanced math skills
- Ability to demonstrate logical thinking in problem solving
- Demonstrated knowledge of cable manufacturing, product design and industry performance standards.
