The Opportunity
This position is based in Bogotá, Colombia and supports Abbott's Medical Devices Division with a global scope. The Business Intelligence & Data Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-level analytics solutions and dashboards that transform complex data into actionable insights for business and leadership decision-making. This role supports the standardization and optimization of analytics delivery, helping improve visibility, operational efficiency, and confidence in key business performance metrics.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that provide clear, actionable insights aligned with business objectives.
- Perform data analysis and validation to ensure reporting accuracy, completeness, and consistency across multiple data sources.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand business processes, KPIs, and decision-making requirements.
- Translate business questions into scalable data models, calculations, and visualizations.
- Develop and maintain documentation for data models, report logic, calculations, and refresh processes.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities and validate reporting outputs against business requirements and source systems.
- Optimize Power BI solutions for performance, security, scalability, and Row-Level Security (RLS) requirements.
- Provide ongoing support and enhancements to existing dashboards and reporting solutions.
- Troubleshoot reporting issues and implement approved change requests.
- Collaborate with IT and business teams to align analytics solutions with organizational goals and priorities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, Business Intelligence, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience developing and supporting Power BI solutions.
- Advanced experience with Power BI report development, dashboard design, and data visualization best practices.
- Strong expertise in data modeling and semantic layer design, including star schema design, performance optimization, and large datasets.
- Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into reporting and analytics solutions.
- Experience supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and validating data accuracy.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Advanced English proficiency (written and verbal).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in global organizations and cross-functional environments.
- Experience supporting healthcare, medical device, pharmaceutical, or regulated industries.
- Knowledge of data governance, reporting standards, and business intelligence best practices.
- Experience with Power BI security models, including Row-Level Security (RLS).
- Experience working with large-scale enterprise datasets and performance optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with SQL, data warehousing concepts, and enterprise analytics platforms.
