Accountabilities The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data infrastructure while ensuring data quality, reliability, and accessibility. This role requires strong engineering capabilities, analytical thinking, and collaboration with technical and business stakeholders.
- Architect and build large-scale data platforms, including data lakes, data marts, and enterprise data solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain efficient data pipelines and ETL processes to support analytics and reporting needs.
- Create and optimize database structures, data models, and processing workflows.
- Develop solutions using SQL, data modeling techniques, and modern data engineering practices.
- Manage and improve data integration processes across multiple sources and systems.
- Work with cloud-based data platforms, including Google Cloud Platform environments and related services.
- Implement and support big data processing solutions using technologies such as Hadoop and Spark.
- Collaborate with analytics teams to enable reporting solutions using platforms such as Looker, Power BI, or similar tools.
- Support event-driven architectures and streaming data processing solutions using technologies like Kafka, Spark, or Flink.
- Monitor data systems, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Partner with stakeholders across teams to understand requirements and deliver effective data solutions.
Requirements
The ideal candidate is an experienced data engineering professional with a strong background in designing scalable data platforms and developing reliable data solutions. They should have excellent technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively with different teams.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience designing and building large-scale data platforms.
- Proven experience working as a Data Engineer or in a similar technical role.
- Strong expertise in database design, development, and optimization.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, data modeling, and ETL development.
- Experience working with data visualization and reporting tools such as Looker, Power BI, or equivalent platforms.
- Knowledge of Google BigQuery or similar cloud data warehouse technologies.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Hands-on experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark.
- Understanding of event-driven architectures and streaming frameworks such as Kafka, Spark Streaming, or Flink is a plus.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL or similar relational database systems is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage complex technical challenges.
