This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Data Scientist, Growth based in Canada.
This is a senior data science opportunity focused on accelerating growth, customer engagement, retention, and monetization across a fast-moving financial technology environment. You will work closely with product, engineering, design, marketing, finance, and operations teams to turn complex questions into measurable business outcomes. The role combines experimentation, statistical analysis, causal inference, forecasting, and machine learning with strong product and commercial judgment. You will have significant autonomy to identify high-impact opportunities and influence strategic priorities through data-driven insights. Your work will help shape how products are launched, optimized, and scaled for millions of Canadian customers. Accountabilities
- Partner with product, engineering, and design teams to improve acquisition, activation, retention, monetization, and the overall customer experience.
- Collaborate with marketing, finance, and operations to uncover growth opportunities and support better business decisions.
- Develop and promote experimentation and decision-making frameworks that enable teams to launch, learn, and iterate with confidence.
- Define KPIs, success metrics, and measurement frameworks that keep teams aligned around measurable outcomes.
- Apply statistical analysis, forecasting, causal inference, and machine learning techniques to understand user behavior and business performance.
- Proactively identify high-impact opportunities through analysis of user journeys, lifecycle behavior, conversion funnels, and financial performance.
- Influence team and company priorities by providing data-driven perspectives on impact, trade-offs, and return on investment.
- Build dashboards, analytical models, and self-service tools that improve visibility into growth and business performance.
- Partner with the broader data organization to maintain a consistent, reliable shared data layer for stakeholders and internal teams.
- Champion a culture of experimentation, curiosity, and evidence-based decision-making across the organization.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in data science, growth analytics, experimentation, or related roles, preferably within high-growth environments.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python, with strong analytical and quantitative capabilities.
- Deep understanding of experimentation, causal inference, statistical analysis, forecasting, and KPI design.
- Strong product and commercial intuition, with the ability to connect user behavior to meaningful business outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally with product, marketing, finance, operations, engineering, or similar teams.
- Ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, and lead complex projects from initial concept through execution.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear recommendations and strategic decisions.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with close attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Curious, action-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where priorities can evolve quickly.
- Strong experience with data visualization and dashboarding tools.
- Experience with experimentation and product analytics platforms such as PostHog, Statsig, or Amplitude is a plus.
- Familiarity with dbt, Snowflake, and modern data stacks is an advantage.
- Experience with lifecycle marketing, customer segmentation, or growth modeling is desirable.
- Experience in startups, consumer technology, or other high-growth environments is a plus.
- Interest in Bitcoin and the broader opportunities presented by non-sovereign money is welcome.
- Professional fluency in English is required due to the customer base and the nature of the platform.
