GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB The Business Intelligence Developer (BID) develop effective ways for stakeholders to view, use, and understand large complex sets of data. Designs, develops, and enhances reports, dashboards, and visualizations for internal and/or external customers. The objectives at this level are complex report writing, query generation, data validation, data visualization and end user education. Incumbents report to the appropriate Business Intelligence Manager or Data and Analytics Manager and may be assigned a focus area: Hospital/Clinics (with focus on Financial, Operational and Clinical Areas) or Health Plan within the Driscoll Health System (DHS).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -
1. Follows the Driscoll Way with communication, end user engagement, and customer service at all times. 2. Follows all guidelines for PHI and data management. 3. Develops complex SQL queries and has a strong understanding of data models within their assigned focus area. 4. Advanced skills in data visualization tools, maintains data visualization tools, ability to generate proper visualizations/Metrics for end user needs. Tools include Qlik, PowerBI, PowerQuery, SAS Software, and Epic - SlicerDicer. 5. Engagement with end users: ownership of reporting initiatives, working with business to understand report needs, build report specifications and designing reporting solutions. 6. Minimal errors in report/query development by performing basic query tuning, proper data validation steps, reviewing or analyzing data prior to sending to requesters. 7. Works well in team environment and assists colleagues with peer review and guidance on report development, or query generation. 8. Can build complex reports in SSRS, Crystal, Epic, Workday, or other DHS software tools. 9. This position has the opportunity to advance into a Lead Business Intelligence Developer / Architect or Lead Healthcare Data Analyst. 10. Performs other related work as required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in the fields such as Finance, Statistics, Data Mining and Analytics, Clinical Analytics, or Health Care Administration with Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- 2 - 3 years of reporting and analytics experience or preferred degree with at least 2 years of business experience (nursing, epidemiology, health plan, etc.)
