About the Role & Project

3fs builds and delivers software solutions for complex technical challenges. One of our primary focus areas is Smart Cities, where we empower municipalities and regional ecosystems to leverage data-driven technology, improve urban mobility, lower environmental impact, and enhance quality of life for citizens.

We are growing the engineering team responsible for building our cloud-native urban data and IoT platform. This platform enables modern cities and smart communities to seamlessly aggregate, analyze, and exchange real-time sensor data, environmental metrics, and public service information.

We provide end-to-end product development—combining product design, backend and frontend engineering, and infrastructure services—while collaborating closely with local and international partners across Europe.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Tasks:

• Develop, implement, and maintain scalable services using Go within a cloud-native architecture deployed on Kubernetes and Linux-based virtual machines.

• Debug and creatively solve complex technical and performance issues.

• Work on automation tools that support our continuous integration and deployment pipelines.

• Conduct peer code reviews across all experience levels to maintain quality and foster knowledge sharing.

More experienced team members will also:

• Prepare implementation proposals and time estimates 

• Coach and mentor colleagues

• Continuously improve ways of working

Knowledge & Skills

• Core Stack: Experience with Go, OpenAPI, HTML, CSS and some JavaScript (server-side templating with templ, Datastar-based frontend).

• Containerization & Tooling: Good foundation with Docker and Git.

• Databases: Solid understanding of databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQLite, DuckDB).

• Smart Cities & IoT: Familiarity with IoT protocols (e.g., MQTT) or streaming data platforms is a plus.

• Orchestration: Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native ecosystem tools is a plus.

• Mindset: Strong problem-solving skills, willingness to adapt to rapid continuous deployment, and clear communication ability in both Slovenian and English.

• Miscellaneous: Valid driving license.

Compensation & Location

• Base Salary: Gross monthly salary ranging from €2,200 to €4,900, depending on your experience and skill level.

• Tax Residency: Candidates must be tax residents in Slovenia. 

• Location: This position is based in Slovenia, you can work either in Kranj or Maribor.
