Job Summary

Under the general direction of the General Manager, the Business Data Analyst contributes to the Casino’s growth and profitability through support of retrieving, compiling, and summarizing key business data involving financial, marketing, labor, and other property initiatives. The Business Data Analyst is system super user of all technology, systems and applications necessary to provide data integrity and financial and operational project evaluations and will assist with business reporting and project-related analysis.

Essential Job Duties

  • Partner with executive leadership to identify informational needs and analyze data identifying trends and patterns to create actionable objectives
  • Analyze complicated and complex raw data and convert it into understandable reports or analysis to create actionable information.
  • Work with necessary vendors to improve access and integrity of our data in their application(s).
  • Develop tools and processes to monitor, validate, and analyze for data accuracy.
  • Write and maintain programs to automate data collection and processing.
  • Create, develop, and perform standard and ad-hoc queries of business.
  • Notify management immediately of any material discrepancies, deviations or variances that need immediate attention.
  • Develop all operating performance analysis support required by department leadership.
  • Compile and analyze daily, monthly, quarterly and annual reports and ensure financial and operational information has been recorded accurately for reporting purposes
  • Prepare recurring reports by analyzing, interpreting and summarizing financial data.
  • Identify trends and developments in competitive environments and present findings and make recommendations to executive team.
  • Communicate effectively with executive management through listening, documentation, and presentations, using visualization tools to share analysis and make recommendations based on that interpretation of data.
  • Manage the FP&A report workspaces in collaboration with departments reporting needs and ongoing requests for improved reporting and automation
  • Provide advanced analytical and programming support to assess and monitor performance of the property.
  • Provide mentorship and relational database training to other interested parties within the casino, as needed.
  • Coordinate and support business and financial planning, including short- and long-term business forecasting.
  • Develop and maintain databases for financial, gaming, marketing, staffing and other statistical data.
  • Support the annual budget process by developing historical, current and potential future trend analysis.
  • Assist in assessing and communicating financial and operating results to managers.
  • Develop appropriate financial and operating metrics for use by management in decision making.
  • Ensure department goals and performance measures (Key Performance Indicators (KPI), and other business metrics are understood and communicated departments.
  • Assist with analysis and review with management of financial summary information, analysis of operational reports and development of database and dashboard publication procedures.
  • Protect and maintain confidentiality of all pertinent and relevant financial and performance information.

Supplemental Job Duties

  • Safeguard and account for the assets of the owners.
  • Comply with policies and procedures required by the department, the company, the Sac & Fox Gaming Commission, and the National Indian Gaming Commission.
  • Monitor the casino environment and follow established safety procedures to provide for the safety of guests and co-workers.
  • Work respectfully and effectively as part of the company team to ensure guest satisfaction, asset protection, and co-worker respect.
  • Report to work on time and as required in professional attire, display a high level of personal cleanliness and follow personal appearance standards.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

Ability to maneuver in all areas of casino, ascent/descent from stairs, frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling or crouching, and/or prolonged periods of time focusing on tasks. Ability to lift at least 25 lbs. May regularly need to lift/ move, push or pull up material or boxes necessary to the job functions, with or without assistance. Be able to work in a smoke filled environment with loud and continual noise levels for extended periods of time.

Specific vision ability includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Visual acuity to discern and examine text, graphics, color and symmetry. Speech to communicate clearly, express ideas and convey information in an understandable manner. Ability to hear for listening comprehension and to understand ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Manual dexterity to operate office or required equipment and examine or update documents, records, data, instructions, logs, and files.

Social perceptiveness to assess and understand other’s reactions and behavior. Critical thinking to use logic and reasoning, reach conclusions/solutions. Comprehension in assessing, analyzing, and processing alpha, numeric, and visual data and completing required tasks or documents accurately. Ability to tolerate stress and conduct tasks under critical deadlines. Ability to concentrate on task over a period of time without being distracted.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

Knowledge/Education/Work Experiences:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, computer science, mathematics, or similar field; or six (6) years of demonstrable progressive experience in a related role required.
  • High School diploma/GED required.
  • Master’s degree in related field preferred
  • Demonstrable experience in advanced spreadsheets (Excel) and report automation and data visualization using programs such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Demonstrable experience in analyzing large volumes of data, extracting insights and processing large data sets using SQL or SQL-like scripting language required
  • Advanced skills in statistics, machine learning language and relational database knowledge with fluency in R, Python, SQL and other applicable programming languages preferred.

Must be accurate with assignments and able to meet deadlines. Must be able to interact with people Must be able to handle busy and stressful situations. Must be flexible with work shifts and days off. Must have the ability to work with little or no supervision. Must be able to meet all internal supervisory or higher, training and education requirements. Must have well-developed financial analysis and management skills. Requires strong computer skills.

Gaming Restrictions

This position is PROHIBITED from playing all casino games while on or off duty, except as authorized for team member tournaments. Team Members may be Club Meskwaki members and remain eligible for the benefits based on accruals but are prohibited from entering casino contests unless otherwise noted on the drawing, tournament, or contest guidelines.
