Java QA Test Automation Engineer | Sênior

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Java QA Test Automation Engineer | Sênior based in Brazil.

This role offers senior-level ownership of test automation strategy, quality engineering, and automated testing architecture within a remote environment. You will design and evolve robust automation frameworks while ensuring reliable coverage across frontend, backend, performance, and integration layers. The position combines hands-on Java development with CI/CD, BDD, performance testing, data management, and quality governance. You’ll help embed a Shift-Left quality culture by collaborating with Product, Design, and Engineering from the earliest stages of development. The role also includes mentoring junior and mid-level QA professionals and raising technical standards across the team. With a strong focus on automation, reliability, and continuous improvement, you’ll help ensure software quality throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Accountabilities:

• Lead the team's test automation strategy, defining technical standards, architecture, governance, and quality practices.

• Design, structure, and continuously evolve modular, robust, scalable, and maintainable automation frameworks.

• Automate functional and non-functional tests across frontend/UI and backend/API layers.

• Integrate and maintain automated test suites within CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and/or GitHub Actions.

• Promote and implement a Shift-Left testing approach by participating actively in refinement and solution design alongside Product, Design, and Engineering teams.

• Develop BDD-based test scenarios using Cucumber and Gherkin as living documentation.

• Execute and analyze performance and load tests using JMeter and/or K6, supporting the identification and investigation of bottlenecks.

• Monitor and maintain the quality of automation code using static analysis tools such as SonarQube.

• Manage test data across relational and non-relational databases, including MySQL and MongoDB.

• Manage test cases and test plans with appropriate traceability through Jira and Xray.

• Mentor and provide technical guidance to Junior and Mid-level QA professionals.

• Communicate technical risks, quality issues, and the potential business impact of defects clearly to stakeholders and leadership.

Requirements:

• Solid hands-on experience in software test automation and quality engineering.

• Strong proficiency in Java, including object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.

• Extensive experience automating UI tests with Selenium WebDriver.

• Extensive experience automating APIs with RestAssured.

• Proven experience designing and building automation frameworks from the ground up.

• Practical experience with BDD using Cucumber and Gherkin.

• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD environments using Jenkins or GitHub Actions.

• Strong Git and version-control skills, with experience using platforms such as GitHub or GitLab.

• Experience performing performance and load testing with JMeter or K6.

• Knowledge of static code analysis and quality monitoring using SonarQube.

• Experience working with MySQL and MongoDB to create, manage, and validate test data.

• Familiarity with JSON and YAML manipulation and validation.

• Experience with the Atlassian ecosystem, particularly Jira, Confluence, and Xray.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to quality, reliability, and technical detail.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.

• Ability to mentor other QA professionals and provide clear technical guidance.

• Strong understanding of software quality practices and the ability to communicate technical risks and defect impacts to leadership.

• Ability to work effectively in a remote environment and collaborate with distributed teams.
