This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Android Engineer based in United States.
This role offers the opportunity to build secure, privacy-focused mobile experiences used by millions of people. You will contribute to large-scale native Android applications while working on high-impact initiatives across privacy, security, and usability. The position combines deep Android engineering expertise with meaningful ownership from project scoping through delivery and iteration. You will work primarily with Kotlin and modern mobile development practices while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. Your work may span areas such as privacy protection, autofill improvements, and phishing and malware prevention. Accountabilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain secure, high-quality native Android applications using Kotlin.
- Own features and projects end to end, from initial scoping and implementation through delivery, evaluation, and follow-up.
- Contribute to privacy- and security-focused Android initiatives, including privacy protection, autofill, and phishing and malware protection.
- Apply strong knowledge of mobile architecture, threading, memory management, data structures, and algorithms to build reliable applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to translate quantitative and qualitative insights into effective user experience solutions.
- Evaluate technical approaches, identify risks, and make informed engineering decisions based on available data and product objectives.
- Take initiative to move projects forward while recognizing when collaboration, escalation, or additional input is needed.
- Communicate technical decisions, trade-offs, and project progress clearly to relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
- Contribute to related Android projects and other priorities across the functional engineering team as required.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional Android engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience working on at least two large-scale native Android applications.
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin and modern Android development.
- Deep understanding of mobile application architecture, including MV concepts, mobile threading, and memory management.
- Solid understanding of complex data structures and algorithms.
- Ability to use both quantitative and qualitative data to inform engineering and user experience decisions.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a creative, proactive approach to tackling complex technical challenges.
- Ability to take ownership, operate independently, and make sound decisions while knowing when to involve others.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain and validate technical decisions.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Comfortable working in an environment that values autonomy, experimentation, continuous improvement, and accountability.
- Willingness to participate in video meetings with cameras enabled.
- Availability to travel at least twice per year for company-wide and team gatherings, typically lasting approximately 4–5 days each.
- Ability to commit to an average full-time workload of approximately 40 hours per week within a flexible schedule without fixed core hours.
- Successful completion of a background check is required.
