The role
The Integration Business Analyst is a programme-level role responsible for driving deep discovery, requirements definition, and operating model design across Citation Group's post-acquisition integrations.
The role ensures that integration activity is grounded in a thorough understanding of the acquired business — its processes, customers, commercial flows, and operational model — and that this understanding is translated into clear requirements, defined journeys, and a business case that supports sound integration decisions.
Working closely with the Integration Programme Director, Enterprise Architect, and Project-level delivery teams, the IBA is the analytical and design authority for the business dimension of each integration.
1. Deep Dive Discovery & Documentation of As-Is State
- Lead structured discovery of each acquired business at the point of onboarding into the integration programme
- Document current-state processes, systems, data flows, commercial models, and organisational structure
- Produce a clear, evidenced as-is baseline that informs integration design decisions and surfaces early risks
- Ensure discovery outputs are shared with the Enterprise Architect to support end-state architecture design
2. Detailed Requirements Definition
- Translate discovery findings and integration objectives into structured, actionable requirements
- Work with workstream leads and business SMEs to capture functional and non-functional requirements across commercial, operational, technology, and people dimensions
- Own the requirements register for each integration, maintaining traceability from business need through to delivery
- Validate requirements with stakeholders and ensure sign-off prior to solution design
3. Operating Model Definition
- Define the target operating model for each acquired business post-integration, covering organisational structure, roles, processes, and ways of working
- Identify gaps between the current state and the target model, and frame these as integration decisions or workstream inputs
- Ensure the operating model is aligned with Citation Group's wider organisational standards and the specific commercial rationale for the acquisition
4. Customer Journey Mapping for All Cross-Sell Flows
- Map end-to-end customer journeys for all cross-sell opportunities identified through the integration, including entry points, handoff moments, and friction points
- Work with Commercial, Marketing, and Product stakeholders to design target journeys that maximise revenue realisation from the acquired customer base
- Ensure cross-sell journey designs are documented and handed over to delivery teams with sufficient clarity to act
5. Process Design
- Design target-state processes across key integration workstreams, including customer onboarding, account management, billing, support, and offboarding
- Produce process maps (swimlane or equivalent) to the level of detail required for system configuration, training, and operational handover
- Identify process risks, dependencies, and exception flows, and ensure these are captured in the programme RAID log
6. Business Case Alignment
- Support the Integration Programme Director in maintaining business case integrity throughout delivery — tracking whether integration activity remains aligned to the original value creation thesis
- Flag material deviations from the original commercial rationale and bring these to SteerCo attention with supporting evidence
- Contribute to post-integration reviews by evaluating whether business case assumptions proved accurate and documenting lessons for future acquisitions
