Build Autonomous Cloud Systems as a Site Reliability Engineer

Are you an early-career engineer passionate about cloud security, site reliability, and automation? Trimble is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (P1) to join our Global AI Site Reliability & Security Operations (AI-SecOps) team. Operating across an enterprise Azure ecosystem of 22,000+ Windows Virtual Machines and 3,000+ Microsoft SQL Servers, you will combine SRE principles, Zero Trust architecture, and AI-driven automation to ensure our systems remain secure, resilient, and highly available.

What Makes This Role Great:

As a P1 Site Reliability Engineer, you will contribute directly to multi-year cloud security roadmaps, autonomous patching workflows, and AI-driven CVE remediation under the mentorship of senior engineering leadership. Supporting a follow-the-sun model across North America and India, you will gain hands-on exposure to enterprise-scale Azure governance, modern observability tooling, and automated deployment pipelines. This role is an ideal launchpad for an ambitious engineer looking to master cloud reliability at scale.  

Key Exciting Responsibilities

  • Cloud Infrastructure Support: Support the reliability and security strategy across our Azure infrastructure footprint, assisting in maintaining system stability and performance metrics.
  • Windows & SQL Server Operations: Help apply enterprise security configurations, patching standards, and operational guidelines across 22,000+ Windows VMs and 3,000+ SQL Servers.
  • Patch Orchestration & Troubleshooting: Participate in global patch deployment workflows (using tools like Azure Update Manager, NinjaOne, SCCM/MECM, WSUS, PatchMyPC, ManageEngine, or Ivanti) to prevent deployment failures.
  • Azure Governance & Security: Assist with Azure landing zone policies, RBAC access controls, Web Application Firewall (WAF) rule sets, and Zero Trust security protocols.
  • Vulnerability Analysis & Remediation: Execute routine CVE scans across platforms (Qualys, Tenable, Rapid7, Defender), utilizing AI tools and scripts for triage and automated patch deployment.
  • Automation & Scripting: Write and maintain scripts in PowerShell, Python, or Terraform to automate administrative tasks, continuous integration gates, and operational runbooks.
  • Incident Response & Collaboration: Support incident triage and root-cause analysis (RCA) activities while collaborating closely with engineering teams in North America and India.

 

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience: 2–3 years of hands-on experience in cloud technical support, systems administration, DevOps, or site reliability engineering.
  • Cloud & Security Foundations: Fundamental understanding of Microsoft Azure, Azure Active Directory/Entra ID, RBAC, and basic cloud networking/security concepts.
  • Scripting & Automation: Introductory to intermediate skills in PowerShell or Python for task automation and system scripting.
  • OS & Systems Familiarity: Basic administration knowledge of Windows Server environments and familiarity with relational database management systems like MS SQL Server.
  • Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving aptitude, meticulous attention to detail, and a desire to learn modern AI-assisted engineering practices.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.

 

Bonus Points For:

  • Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500), or CompTIA Security+.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Exposure to enterprise IaC tools such as Terraform, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps pipelines.
  • Vulnerability Management: Familiarity with CVSS scoring, patch management platforms, or common vulnerability scanning tools.
