Summary

The Lead Project Manager is a senior-level professional responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing one or more high-visibility complex projects in support of HIE programs, services, strategic initiatives and mentorship. This role serves as a subject matter expert in HIE application software and onboarding processes, and works collaboratively with internal teams, stakeholders, and participants to support successful project execution and service delivery. The Lead Project Manager ensures projects are completed in alignment with organizational objectives, established requirements, and operational standards through mentorship and training of junior Project Managers.

 

The Lead Project Manager will serve as a point of escalation to provide technical assistance to junior Project Managers and the participants and/or EHR vendors they serve and will also be responsible for vendor engagement and organizing Contexture staff in various implementation roles including leading agile as well as business operations teams and maintain a knowledge base for EHR vendors identifying key elements relative to the various HIE implementations to include but not limited to, onboarding, User Interface workflows, and escalation contacts.

 

This role reports to the Director of Project Management Office and will work closely with the Business Development, Technical Integration, Implementation, Quality Assurance and operational teams at Contexture as well as community resources.

 

This position is based in Phoenix, Arizona and requires local residency in one of these base locations. Our strategic flexibility allows for local work from home opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Planning and executing testing with vendors and end users, including (but not necessarily limited to) writing test scenarios and plans, integration testing, interface testing, data migration testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Drive cross functional integration projects, resolve high impact issues, and ensure alignment among project managers, system integration engineers, and technical integration solution managers.
  • Lead development of implementation documentation in addition to keeping documentation up to date. Utilize documents to render training to Project Managers.
  • Support new hires in initial implementations to reinforce high level training provided at the time of onboarding.
  • Knowledge of State Programs and their requirements, deliverables, and timelines.
  • Identify technology platform risks that may have universal impact across various implementations and suggest possible remediation plans to those risks.
  • Champion ongoing process improvement initiatives to implement best practices within the PMO team.
  • Ability to define, plan, organize, and manage multiple complex projects efficiently and
  • Know and understand how all Contexture Solutions are implemented and be able to resource any implementation type based on resourcing needs.
  • Work with community participants and vendors to establish network connectivity to Contexture HIE and configure software solution according to desired clinical workflow for physician practices.
  • Lead Project Manager will often be a subject matter expert who provides technical guidance and makes key decisions related to their area of expertise Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office toolset (Word, Project, Excel, and PowerPoint required, Visio, Share Point, Jira and Salesforce preferred).

  • Ability to be an effective Scrum Master and lead scrum teams and ensure tasks are completed efficiently, on time, and to quality standards.
  • Lead an operations Agile team(s) within projects. This includes being responsible for ensuring the team follows Agile principals as well as the processes and practices the team agreed they would use, including but not limited to, leading project) grooming sessions as well as attending sprint ceremonies led by scrum masters (SMs) and working with SMs acting as an Agile product owner/Agile project manager.
  • Monitor and report on the status of project efforts, including weekly time reporting and problem prevention/mitigation.
  • Facilitate and encourage participant commitment and collaboration to meet all interface specification requirements to alleviate defects in future project phases and post-production.
  • Promote empowerment of the project team, ensure that each team member is fully engaged in the project and making a meaningful contribution, and encourage a sustainable pace with high levels of quality for the team.
  • Planning and executing user training and ongoing adoption support, ensuring that users are adequately trained, educated, and advised on the functionality, processes, and associated benefits.
  • Work with community participants and vendors to establish network connectivity to Contexture HIE and configure software solution according to desired clinical workflow for physician practices.
  • Identify, prioritize, communicate, and drive resolution of critical issues and risks to mitigate negative impact to community satisfaction.
  • Effectively manage difficult situations with clear, timely, and collaborative decision making as well as incisive and creating problem solving.

Skills:

  • Project management experience with demonstrated success.
  • Comprehensive understanding of RHIOs and the HIE landscape - including functionality, technology (HIT), processes, and policy.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical workflow, ideally across healthcare providers and systems.
  • End user training, both individual and classroom settings.
  • Process & workflow mapping and redesign.
  • Strong process orientation, problem solving and troubleshooting skills, and a firm commitment to quality.
  • Ability to establish and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment and work on many projects at the same time.
  • Balanced business/technical background:
  • Sufficient level of technical background to provide highly credible leadership to technical teams and to be able to accurately and objectively evaluate complex project risks and issues.
  • Ability to provide leadership to all stakeholders and collaborate with all to develop strategies and solutions of high business value.
  • A proven track record of successfully implementing projects using Agile and Waterfall methodologies with demonstrated experience in Agile Project Management tools such as Jira, Salesforce, Cloud Coach or equivalent.

Education/Experience

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in project
  • Healthcare and/or information technology experience required; HIE implementation experience and knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Master’s Degree
  • Project management certification preferred.
